Wolves Win Chase for Wallace
Thursday, 21st May 2015 15:17

Wolves have fought off competition from the Blues and several other Championship clubs to land Portsmouth’s 21-year-old attacking midfielder Jed Wallace.

Wallace has agreed a three-year deal with Wolves, who activated a £275,000 buy-out clause in his Pompey contract, to beat Town, Fulham, Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton for the England U19 international’s signature, according to the Portsmouth News.

TWTD reported that Town were keeping tabs on the promising youngster towards the end of the 2012/13 season.

Meanwhile, Birmingham and Wigan are reported to have joined Fulham in showing interest in Blues midfielder Paul Anderson.

TWTD revealed that the Cottagers were keen on the 26-year-old a month ago with preliminary talks understood to have taken place.

Earlier in the week Anderson was one of five out-of-contract Blues players told no contract is currently on the table at Portman Road, although manager Mick McCarthy wasn’t ruling out offering terms later on in the summer.

Elsewhere, a 17-year-old Norwich City fan will miss Monday’s play-off final after being reported to the police for abusing Blues left-back Tyrone Mings during the first leg of the semi-final by someone watching the game on TV in Bolton.

The supporter from Cromer was reported for "racially abusive" language but having been arrested during the match the fan admitted using abusive but non-racist language towards Mings, who was oblivious to the incident.

The person who made the report declined to make a statement but under a community resolution the fan won’t attend the final against Middlesbrough.

There will be four new arrivals , maybe three , i suspect a raft of speculation. Interesting that rivals are getting their signings in early. Just hope we don't miss the boat and then bring back in those we have released ,apart from Anderson who i reckon would of learnt an enormous amount this season about the need to be consistent. His performances in the play off games were the best within our squad. Interestingly he could be a damn good attacking right back.

@blueboy1981 - have you been disappointed with our performance this season? Reaching the play offs when we have not had a chance for the past ten years. I ask because our team is full of these "scrag ends" from other clubs. Berra, Chambers, Skuse, the list goes on. A certain Mr Murphy was a free transfer because he could not even get in the team at Celtic! it amazes me that you can be moaning about our transfer business when MM and TC have produces some cracking players from these "scrag ends". Maybe we should wait and see what they pull out of the bag before moaning. We are only a week after the play off defeat.

MM and TC have transformed this club, we may not be pretty to watch, but we are tough to beat and work hard together like an Army. For once we seem to have a team that sticks together and is proud to wear the shirt. Trust MM as he has pulled this club around.

@essexblue88 yes we made the play offs but we lost without a fight and we have a team that can't play football so where does that get us?

Exactly the type of player we need. Buoyed by the fact we may have been looking to pay that sort of fee. Think we need to replace all that have been released. Squad was extremely small even then. Much work to do.

blue_movies - we lost the play-off's without a fight? What on earth were you watching.

Whilst we probably have the greatest squad ever made from near enough all free agents...it's nice to see that Mick might have some cash to play with this summer.

blueboy seriously.

Prove you wrong this time???? Like as if you were right last time???

MM took the team to the playoffs. Most of the players that got us there were his signings, while some who had previously been there benefited enormously from his management, What does it take for you to give him any credit without qualifying it?

And Blue_Movies if not for Berra's sending off at such a crucial moment in the game (that is soon after we had a great first half) we may well have been planning for Wembley - but who knows? Cut the BS.

With Wolves buying Wallace,
Maybe, just maybe we will be after that tricky "Gromit" who also be available and looking for a new club to display his creative talents.

bohslegend ........ still living on if's, but's and maybe's then - and a few excuses as time passes no doubt ...!!

Don't twist my words to suit yourself - I have claimed NOTHING - I have merely thrown out the challenge (tongue in cheek) for us to get some quality in EARLY - as opposed to waiting until it's all signed up elsewhere.

That way there will be less if's, but's, and maybe's for you to dwell on in the future.

If you cannot interpret, or read, my posts CORRECTLY - PLEASE don't bother.

TIB-Hope it wasn't the £275000 that put us off buying Wallace, because Mr Evans cant expect his Manager to do the same as last season surely after getting to playoffs, although admittedly by the skin of our teeth.
If so Mick may decide to' foxtrot oscar' !!!

But blueboy if your posts were not (deliberately?) ambiguous then there would be no need for other posters to "interpret"-or is the point of most of your posts to leave others wondering what you really think?
Most posters on here(whether you agree with them or not)make their meanings quite clear but you seem to delight in posting something with two possible meanings and then when somebody remarks on your post you suggest that is not what you meant.
Anyway,it will soon be August.

...... to all who will live forever on the fact that 'we have just had 'the best season for a decade, or more' - YES IT WAS WITHOUT DOUBT - but we failed at the final hurdle.

That is all now way behind us - WE NOW MOVE ON - and hopefully next time we won't need the final hurdle to fail at.

We have moved players out already, more may follow - so the squad 'that worked so well together, as a team is / will be history.

DO NOT DWELL - on the past season - NEXT SEASON IS THE IMPORTANT ONE.

The earlier our squad is together for it - the better. Just look over our shoulder at what others are / will be doing as proof of it being important. Let's hope we can do just that.

....... bohslegend (in particular), PJH, and a few others who question me for EVER indicating anything other than praise about MM or our Club ............ I will just remind you that I am one who IS there every week, put much money into the Club, and have done so for many, many years.

DO ALL YOU ??? ........ before you question me.

I speak / post as I find - please or offend.
