Bishop Charged With Betting Offences By FA
Tuesday, 26th May 2015 17:18

Town midfielder Teddy Bishop has been charged with multiple breaches of the FA’s rules relating to betting.

A statement on the FA’s website reads: “Ipswich Town’s Edward Bishop has been charged for alleged multiple breaches of FA Rule E8 in relation to betting. The player has until 1st June 2015 to respond to the charge.”

Town media manager Steve Pearce told TWTD: “We are aware of the charge that Teddy faces but won’t be making any further comment until the result of the disciplinary procedure is known.”

Anyone involved in football in any capacity is banned from betting on matches anywhere under rules which were introduced at the start of the season.

The Town squad attended an FA talk at the training ground during pre-season in which the new rules were outlined to them.

Players previously found guilty of betting on football matches have received fines or in more serious cases suspensions.

Oh dear. Hopefully give him the benefit of the doubt and gets a slap on the wrist. The last thing we want is Teddy to start the season banned like Berra!

Could that mean a ban ?
What are the precedents?

Massive Dead Arm from Mick McCarthy if found guilty

The FA have referred to him as "EDWARD Bishop", so he must be in big trouble. At least that's how it worked in my house growing up.

Oh the irony of having a William Hill betting advert under this article offering 2 free bets.

Football, you can't have it both ways!!!!

Idiot! But on another school of thought is if bad bews that a kid as young as him ( and a professional), is already seemingly wrappedbup in betting/gambling?

Same in my house Len.

One assumes this is on matches not involving town. If it wore to be on games involving town that would be very serious indeed.

Either way it's stupid but he's young enough that he'll learn from it and if there is any manager who can stub out such misdemeanours then it's Mick

You have(if proved correct) been stupid young man and have ignored the talkin that the club gave pre season, you were around when that idiot chopra was here(did he take you to the bookies of an afternoon?) and should have seen 1st hand what this could lead to, with any luck you might get away lightly but just for gods sake learn before it is too late and ruin a very promising career.

Silly boy Edward. I suspect Mick will really take him to task on this. Seems previous similar incidents have led to fines & suspended suspensions as long as there is no further breach of the betting rules

What a silly young man. MM needs to have a quiet but serious chat with him.

Silly sod....

Just as MM was saying other youngsters could emulate his achievements on the pitch he (allegedly) buggers about off it !

Hopefully he will learn his lesson and move on....

He probably fell victim to all the promotion of betting on the forum.

I do think it's a bit hypocritical that most of football is betting sponsored, and then they expect an 18 year old lad not to be tempted.

Footballers really aren't blessed with a lot of intelligence are they?! Fast feet and slow brains. Have a word Mick.
