Town Again in Ireland in Pre-Season
Wednesday, 27th May 2015 16:29

Town have confirmed that the Blues will once again begin their pre-season programme with a trip to Ireland and a friendly against Dublin side Shelbourne.

As they have during the last two summers, Mick McCarthy’s men will spend a week at the Carton House Hotel in Co Kildare prior to a game against the Dublin club at Tolka Park on Saturday 11th July (KO 3pm).

Dylan Connolly and Adam McDonnell (pictured) will face their old club having joined the Blues from Shelbourne during 2014/15.

Last year Town beat Shels 4-0 with the game the season before ending 2-0 to the Blues.

Ah, so there's the customary announcement of the Ireland tour and match against Shelbourne.

Which means now we're just waiting for the following:
A reserves friendly against Needham Market
An away friendly against Gillingham
An away friendly against Southend
An away friendly against Colchester
A home friendly against West Ham/West Brom/somebody of that ilk

So many people want to go to Dusseldorf, i'd imagine we'd take quite a few over there, but once again we start off with this. Like NoCanaries said, it's the start of the same schedule for us, with Colchester away and West Ham at home soon to follow I imagine

Maybe the last time Ipswich get to play in Tolka Park. Both Shelbourne and another great Dublin club, Bohemians, are in financial trouble. There is a plan to knock down Tolka Park stadium and for Shelbourne and Bohs. to groundshare Dalymount Park.

NAMA is the state institution that took over the assets/liabilities of developers after the building boom collapse.

I must admit it's not that inspiring but then again MM has said previously he doesn't care much for the pre-season matches?

.......... another exciting pre season in terms of friendlies lies ahead then - bet the players will be getting excited already ....... !!!!

Oh forgot - not allowed to question, query or disapprove of anything - but agree with all things MM.

No wonder we don't win anything - we don't need to - many will AGAIN be satisfied with anything, and everything.

How's that ??

I am amazed about some of the comments about how boring and repetitive the pre-season will be?! It is not about HAVING FUN, it is all about getting the squad together (especially if there are new faces in) and get physically ready for the start of the season. I don't care is it in Dublin or on Alaska if the work needed is successfully performed. I guess nobody will feel bored if we start the season fresh, well trained, good team vibe and understanding, and eventually get a few wins in the first games. So why on Earth do we complain about where the pre-season is?!?

May go over to ireland to see ipswich and to visit my cousins but no telling where they would be as they are gypsies. Plenty of half decent teams in the uk we could play. COYB.

Any chance of a West Country warm up game?
Glad to have Bristol City back in the Championship.

Please come to Norway...Stavanger Viking...nice ground but they play like the Red Lion Sunday XI so I'm sure we'd get a morale boosting win. Plus Town have a big following in Bryne, a farming area just south of Stavanger, due to the Tractor Boys nickname.
