Blues Amongst Clubs Linked With Pringle
Thursday, 28th May 2015 11:47

Town are reported to be amongst a number of clubs interested in former Rotherham midfielder Ben Pringle.

The Blues and Championship rivals Fulham, Bolton and Leeds are all keen on the 26-year-old, according to the Sheffield Telegraph, while League One sides Wigan Athletic - who we now understand are leading the chase to sign Paul Anderson - and Sheffield United are linked elsewhere.

Out-of-contract Pringle recently turned down the offer of a new three-year deal with the Millers, who he joined in 2011 from Derby County.

Prior to his time with the Rams, Newcastle-born Pringle had been playing in non-league with Newcastle Blue Star, Morpeth Town and Ilkeston Town, having been with West Brom’s academy as a youngster. While with Derby he spent a spell on loan with Torquay.

Pringle, whose set pieces led to both Rotherham’s goals in their 2-0 victory over the Blues in February, made 154 starts and 14 sub appearances for the Millers, scoring 22 goals, and helped them to promotion from League Two as runners-up in 2012/13 and League One via the play-offs in 2013/14.

Surely Anderson is better than Wigan?

I'd like to happen, could only be a better option on the wing than what we have now, especially with Ando leaving. Work rate is a big plus for MM as well.

Only issue could be Town being blown out of the water by the likes of Fulham offering him a load of money to ward off other potential suitors. But, then it would be down to him to either make his decision based on money or joining a club who proved their capabilities last season

MaySixth: He rejected a new contract at Rotherham. Steve Evans was not happy about it, clearly a player they wanted to keep.

I thought he looked like a good player last year when they were in League One. Natural winger with a good work rate would so he'd surely tick Mick's boxes. The wing's is certainly where I'd look to strengthen as we were far too weak there this season.

Very good player, just what we need in midfield and scores goals. Always thought we should go for him at the end of the season but didn't realise he was on a free! Can only see Fulham really challenging us

Looked like a decent enough player when we played them away, was probably man of the match and definitely worth giving him a go on a free transfer!

Like the sound of him but i fear the north connections may win the race for him.

1st real link of the summer, since the season finished and it's just the sort of player we should be looking at and Def ticks all the boxes, has that quality on the ball, but also works hard. You'd like to think that our decent season last time out will put us towards the front of the queue

In my opinion he is just as capable as Jonny Williams (C Palace) if not more in his contribution,
Also to note, those Plucky Budgies have released Luciano Becchio, and he'd be a worthwhile addition to replace Noel Hunt as a extra striker.

A very good player at the peak of his career who could do a great job for us with his high energy workrate. Would think he is a real MM type player but if money talks as it probably will I can't see him coming here. If there is anything in this I really hope I'm wrong as always rated him.

A decent signing on a free, nothing special but i do like the sound of his crossing ability, I hope he isn't the only winger we sign all summer though.

He's something we desperately need for set pieces, we have all these 'huge' players yet no-one can consistently cross a ball into dangerous areas. Must need in my opinion, sign him up!

Sounds like he could be a good signing. However, I'd also like to see us being linked with players with a proven record of a higher than us standard, Yes, I know it is early and there is a long way to go before the new season starts, but just saying. A couple of players with good experience of a higher standards I believe are badly needed - it's what we lacked last season compared to the scum and at least a couple of the other promotion rivals. We can't keep expecting to get away with such a paper thin squad. Happy summer friends!

Can he play right back.

Would definitely provide better quality from the left-side of midfield than Tabb. As is often noted, one area our midfield needs to improve upon is goals/assists.
