Pratley Still in Bolton Talks
Saturday, 30th May 2015 10:21

Bolton Wanderers say they are continuing to hold talks with out-of-contract midfielder Darren Pratley, who has been linked with the Blues on social media in recent days.

Rumours that the 30-year-old free agent was set to join Town began circulating on Thursday with one source even erroneously claiming that the former Fulham, Brentford (loan) and Swansea man was due at the club to undergo a medical yesterday.

However, while Pratley wouldn’t be an entirely unlikely summer Town target, the current claims would appear to be purely speculative with the Bolton News reporting that a Trotters spokesman has confirmed that discussions regarding a new Wanderers contract are ongoing, although a source close to the player recently suggested that those talks had hit a stumbling block.

Meanwhile, former Town midfielder Jack Collison has joined League One Peterborough United on a one-year deal.

The Wales international, 26, signed a short-term deal with the Blues last September but was unable to make a senior appearance due to injury and moved on in January.

Collison, who was previously with Posh as a schoolboy, could face Town in pre-season with the Blues at London Road on Saturday 25th July (KO 3pm).

Would be good addition if it happened.

Sounds like his agent is trying to force Bolton's hand by linking other clubs to his cash-cow.

He's a decent player but not sure he's any better than what we have already. At 30 years old, it's unlikely that he's going to improve much either. I'd prefer to see some younger players with energy and legs brought into the squad instead.

Would add absolutely nothing. Average championship player who will only get worse

Collinson was listed on the BBC website's transfer deals yesterday as Ipswich to Peterborough (free), did Town still have his contract at the end of the season?

I believe we may regret not keeping Massimo Luongo.
Was stand out player in the Australian team who won the Asian cup, now signed with QPR.
Attacking midfielder who can score goals.
Hope MM picks up a couple of standout midfielders.

I've checked some Bolton fan pages and one argued that Pratley should have been Bolton's player of the year. Wouldn't mind this one

Michael11, don't you think that Murphy's improved a lot after 30?

Not sure how QPR can still keep buying players under FFP and re Luongo - he was with us at the wrong the time ! MM had come in and needed to keep us up - Now we have established and fighting to go up he would be the type of player we need BUT only if we works both ways .. MM said at the time he terminated his loan 'he is not the type of player we need'
Many more links I am sure before August !

Hear we go players don't have contracts or are running out and agents just say names on social media or the press to try to gain control in talks, even though they are not supporters and don't care about the club we love they have more info if its rubbish doesn't hurt to say don't want him. Im fed up of constant speculation and no substance.

6 foot and 30 years old and has scored 9 times for Bolton in the last 4 seasons - no thanks!
But then again it is social media gossip.

Not an exciting prospect, but a decent player who certainly fits the Mick mould & is definitely not too old at 30. Would be solid alongside Skuse at Championship level, but is not the creative genius that we are crying out for, so I would still expect another central midfield signing even if he joins us.
How about looking to bring Giles Barnes back from America?, he seems to have gotten over his injury woes & puts a shift in. A very talented & pacey player, who had lots of top clubs after him before his run of bad luck.

He's a very useful player. Saw him playing on the right in the match at Bolton last season and he gave Mings a torrid time in the first half. He's got a bit of pace about him.

Decent player who has faded out since switching to a turbulent club. Quality, powerful midfielder who can score a goal, pick out a pass and has the experience we could do with. I'd happily take him on.

@50yearsablue

No, I don't really think that Murphy's improved as such. I just think he's been given a full season playing in his proper position rather than dumped out on the wing or on the bench.

Ipswich will not pay his wages during the summer, don't expect signings until end of July

Pratley would not fit in here, he has a football brain and likes to play the ball on the ground

Good player. But we have lots of similar options. What we need is pace, creativity and goals in midfield. At 30 he is not going to get better. A decent addition yes. But we need a different type of player.

i must admit i was negative about this at first but when you think about it, if Skuse gets injured or suspended who would fill in for him and if this position isn't filled it could be costly in key games

Not what we need. Period. Now Luongo on the other hand (with Bish and Bru)? Shame. But please let's get some energy in the team.
