Blues Amongst Clubs Linked With Le Fondre
Saturday, 6th Jun 2015 14:36

Town are amongst a number of Championship clubs reported to be showing interest in Cardiff City striker Adam Le Fondre.

According to WalesOnline, the newly-promoted MK Dons are leading the chase for the 28-year-old, while the Blues, Leeds and Charlton are also claimed to be keen.

Le Fondre is expected to leave the Bluebirds this summer having joined them on a three-year deal from Reading for £2.5 million just over a year ago.

The ex-Stockport, Rochdale and Rotherham frontman moved to Bolton on loan in January having scored only three goals in 20 starts and five sub appearances for the Welshmen.

After netting eight times in 16 starts and one game from the bench for Bolton, Trotters boss Neil Lennon wants to keep the Stockport-born striker at the Macron Stadium permanently with Le Fondre apparently keen to move back up north.

However, the financial side of such a switch is said to be beyond the Lancastrians with Cardiff keen to recoup a significant part of last summer’s £2.5 million outlay.

That being the case, a deal would also appear to be out of Town’s reach, while the player’s desire to return to the north would also seem to rule the Blues out of the running even if there is anything in the claimed interest.

Elsewhere, former Blues striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has joined League One Chesterfield having ended last season with Preston North End.

Would be a great buy. Sad that financial reasons look to be an issue again

Queue the Murphy plus Le Fondre rumours! Can't imagine there's much in this but he'd be a decent addition. Always had an eye for goal and a fox in the box.

Would consider a murphy swap for Le fondre + cash, can't see murphy performing as well as last season and Le Fondre is younger and a proven scorer at this level

MK Dons are "hardly up north" now... next year they could be ground sharing with Fleetwood!

Useful Championship player, but couldn't see us going anywhere near him if they are looking to get a big chunk of that £2.5 million back.

Don't think he'd give us anything different to the very impressive Freddie Sears...

Won't happen but would be happy if it did. Even if we could afford him we're not northern enough. Think he'll go leeds, if he dies expect Billy Sharp rumours

What I can't understand is if a newly promoted club is leading the chase then how come we can't even afford to compete against them? Seems to me it's more a case if not wanting to more than nit being able to. If Marcus really wants us to get to the prem he's gonna have to put his hand in his pockets. As much as we all love the players we have at the mo if we had managed to of gone up the majority of them wouldn't if been good enough for the premier league.

£2m for a player likley to be Town's fourth choice striker isn't where MM should be spending any money ME makes available. Should spend it on decent attacking midfielders or attack minded right back which everyone agrees are the areas town need to stengthen this season.

Good player but do we really need a striker? Unless we're considering selling either Murph or McGoldrick...

He's a quality player. Absolutely no doubt, can't see it happening but I'd jump at the chance to have him at Portman Road.

I think we Town fans need to face facts, although the owner has said there may be cash available for the right player, money appears to be an issue yet again. In my opinion we will not get promoted without adding a few key players to our squad. A small squad size and tiredness cost us in our chance for automatic promotion.

It looks like loans and out of contract players are to be the order of the day again and maybe a few young breakthroughs. We need to face facts that this is the likely scenario!!

Would be a great buy. We need four strikers. Three not enough allowing for injuries etc. however, sadly, this seems unlikely.

tractorcam, of course we ned a striker. we only have three at the club, with varney out of the picture with his injury and hunt not being given a contract. three is not enough. tractorog. either ur post is an attempt at humour or it goes down as the daftest post ever on here. why would mk dons be sharing with Fleetwood next season????? personally, if we had the chanc e to swap murphy for le fonder I wouldn't be against it, with some cash coming this way too, as I cant honestly see murphy scoring newhere near as many goals next season, and it may also force a change in the style of play, with no1 to just hoof the ball forward to. and no, id also be perfectly happy for murphy to stay before ne1 attacks me for suggesting such a thing.

Wouldn't imagine he could fit into McCarthy's team ethics!

There are still so many people making stupid comments about murphy, no idea about football. "Get rid of murphy or cash in on murphy" murphy was our best player by far last season, his goal scoring was a bonus, he is more than just a goal scorer, he holds up play and links up better than anyone in the league, he won't b top scorer next yr but because of him sears probably will b.

blue7579. why is the notion of selling murphy so stupid. yes, he was our top scorer last season. but look at the facts. hes 32, hes had one good season where hes scored over 20 goals in the whole of his career, and as you also sday, hes unlikely to score that many again next season. so, surely if, as reported(yes, speculation at mo), Cardiff were to offer £4-5m, don't you think it would make sense to take that money and use it to bring in 2 or 3 players to strengthen the squad? of courde that would mean needing to get in another striker to replace him. and I accept it wouldn't go down well with many on here if we did. but, looking back to when we sodl kieron dyer some years ago, many were unhappy about that, but the money from that deal, ultimately got us promoted the next season. so, while im not suggesting I want him to go, I also believe that if that sort of money for him WAS to be offered the club should, at least, seriously consider it.

He'd be fourth choice. A great fourth choice to have, but he won't be happy.

I can see another big man on Mick's wishlist.

re Murphy - I'm not so cynical. He loves Ipswich. His form is - he believes (if I've been following TWTD right) - partly due to MMC's faith in him, but also because he is settled, for the first time in years, and his family love it here. Why would he jeopardise that? Gambling one or two years of a misery for a pay increase? I don't think so. He doesn't seem like the type of guy to be wasting his money or prioritizing it above the happiness of his family. Also, he's a well-known, much loved Irish international who played for Celtic. He won't have to worry about making money after his playing career ends. Also, he scored 27 goals last season, playing for Ipswich, in a system that's obviously working for him. He's healthy, happy and thriving at Ipswich. There's no story with Murph being sold and there will never be one.

Not just that there are stories that wolves are favorites to sign gayle from palace ahead of Bournemouth as the 10mill fee puts them off, if this fair play thing isn't putting clubs off risking the future of a club maybe we should consider salary and fee caps dependant on the league your in, like if when a club gets into trouble the owner leaves and starts again the fans stay and have the issues in the future to deal with how can this be right maybe us as fans should start thinking about getting football back, With a lot of the people who are making the rules are corrupt they cant exactly say to owners you cant break the rules but we can the only people getting screwed are the honest owners who follow the rules and the fans.

Wolves have had parachute payments - we haven't so I can understand that they may be able to bid for a player which we can't afford (without breaking FFP rules). I'd much rather be spending money on a Grade 1 Academy
