Capital One Cup Draw on Tuesday
Monday, 15th Jun 2015 15:47

Town will learn their Capital One Cup first round opponents when the draw is made at 10am on Tuesday morning with their 2015/16 Championship fixtures following at 9am on Wednesday when they will be on TWTD.

The Capital One Cup first round draw is seeded and then split on a north and south basis. Town are amongst the seeded sides and will face a southern-based unseeded team drawn at random home or away. First round ties will be played during the week commencing 10th August.

Last year the Blues exited at the first hurdle, losing 1-0 away at Crawley Town after extra-time. It was the ninth time the Blues had been knocked out of the competition by a side from a lower division in 12 seasons.

Meanwhile, Town have announced ticket prices for the friendly at Cambridge United on Tuesday 21st July and have released a DVD of last season's highlights, which also includes an interview with manager Mick McCarthy.

What is the North/South split team wise?

They don't seem to have announced it. Usually available before now.

Newport County and the return of Butcher and Osman would be nice.

Plus we'd win. Though given our recent record, maybe not (semi-final season aside)

Newport away would be fantastic...new ground....reasonably close to Cornwall.....and hopefully a good town following to see a couple of legends and boost their coffers.

Clearly South - Wimbledon, Barnet, Bristol Rovers, Cambridge, Colchester, Crawley, Dagenham, Exeter, Leyton Orient, Luton, Oxford, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Southend, Stevenage, Wycombe, Yeovil
Clearly North - A Stanley, Burton, Bury, Carlisle, Crewe, Doncaster, Hartlepool, Mansfield, Morecombe, Notts County, Oldham, Port Vale, Scunthorpe, York
Not Sure - Coventry, Northampton, Walsall, Shrewsbury, Newport. So I guess to get 18 in each section..Newport are soft southerners and the rest dirty northern...

Hope fully a decent cup run as long as it doesn't affect league form. Saw a rumor online of the fixtures and it Reckoned we would play Hull at home first game lets see if it correct if it is why do we always start against relegated sides.

I'm not sure it matters who we draw. Mick doesn't take this cup too seriously. It will be fringe players.

I'll take AFC Wimbledon in the final :-)

For the first round let's get Plymouth up to Portman Road, road-weary and bleary-eyed, so we can finally get past round one!

The club doesn't care about this cup...as per recent years results. How about some transfer news and I'm not talking about clubs interested in OUR players.

To add to "TotalBlue" comment on possible opening fixture
We for some reason in recent times seem to regularly play a Premier relegated side at the start and have also played Reading away first over the last 2 seasons.
So it would not surprise me if it was Hull that we begin with.

Just hoping Norwich will finish their season with Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd, Man City and Liverpool in their final 5 fixtures..

micks record is as bad as his play off record think we would struggle to put out a team at the minute waiting for bottom of the barrel players and loans after the season has been going for a month again looks like. Wheres the ambition we all crave for at this club.

I predict that we will draw and beat Cambridge Utd. in the first round and then get past Colchester and Peterborough in rounds two and three before facing a surprise replacement for a now defunct Norwich City (due to some financial and/or matchday catering catastrophe) in Fortuna Dusseldorf. How we manage to play Shelbourne in the Carling Cup Final I don't know.

Either a home fixture or Colchester or Luton please.

The league has to be the main focus. Make or break this season - make it to the premiership or the team goes broken up and we go back to the start

perhaps a cup run might give the team added confidence if we ever reach the play-offs again
