Fulham Confirm Pringle Signing
Friday, 19th Jun 2015 13:45

Fulham have confirmed that Town target Ben Pringle will join them when his Rotherham contract is up at the end of the month. TWTD revealed that the Cottagers were set to beat the Blues to the former Miller’s signature early last week.

We understand that Town made an offer to the 26-year-old but that Fulham - whose Premier League parachute payments give them far greater financial muscle - subsequently made an approach to the Newcastle-born midfielder, who had turned down a new contract at Rotherham.

Pringle has agreed a two-year deal with an option for a third season, while Fulham have also signed former Bolton keeper Andy Lonergan - a Town target during Jim Magilton’s time as manager - who will also pen a two-year contract, again with an option for an additional campaign, on July 1st.

Elsewhere, one-time Blues trialist Semi Ajayi has joined his former loan club Cardiff City after his release by Arsenal. The 21-year-old centre-half played for Town's U21s against the Bluebirds at Playford Road in January.

I feel as though it's been a frustrating start to the window for Mick, let's hope we get this exciting arsenal winger in and hopefully keep our key players, one of whom I think will be gone and that is Mings.

Disappointing, but time to move on to the next target. Derby and others are signing players, it's about time we did. I've said it before, but with so many players leaving our already tiny squad, it's imperitive we sign a number of players, but with plenty of quality. It will be bitterly didsappointing if we end up signing released players. A backwards step, which will clearly show our failure to land other targets. If Mick really wanted the players he released he would have offered them a deal, such as Tabb.

Id rather get players to come who fit into our wage structure you take a big risk upsetting others if you offer stupid wages for a player who hasn't done a lot, Fulham are risking it as last year showed they are not prem well they were lucky to be in the championship by the end of the season while they have parachute payments the will have an advantage but it doesn't always work and in this case I can see it being a player who just was a pay rise and not looking at the big picture of moving on up, if they still have him next year they will still be in the championship and I honestly don't think we will be lets see him regret it then lol

Tractorbigboy I was kinda being ironic :) on a serious note, we do feel like we are everyone's back up choice for when they dont get a better offer from somewhere else, & yeah I know we have to remain within our budget, but just seems like we never quite get the players we want, we always have to make do.

Who knows who we are after. But others are making signings or raising bigger funds in order to strengthen by selling players. As yet we have done nothing at all in this window. If the hunts and anderson are back with us it will indeed show we failed to make signings. It does though need a certain style of player to fit in with our team ethic. A change of playing style will need to be sold to incoming players as well as managers of other clubs who we are looking to take loan players from. No way we could of got the lad the brentford had with our playing style. Tottenham would of dismissed it out of hand. Modern football is played on the deck at pace , look at the rest of the top 6 and the 3 promoted clubs. Mick has a big job on his hands persuading some silk to come to the cows arse

Who said MM was interested...the newspaper journos! Can't believe a word they say. MM has his targets and he'll be busy trying to get them in but think the main priority will be a proper right back and wingers!

I swear every other team has made signings apart from us? I'm getting worried we are going to miss out on some good players

What with McDonnell, Connelly and Kenyu (possible typos on all three) - plus if Henshall and Stewart come good do we really need another midfield player unless they happen to be a lot better than what we have.

I do think that we need a central defender who is comfortable on the ball and can actually pass it on the ground more than ten metres.

It say he turned down an offer from us.........maybe it's because of our reputation for hoofball & he likes to play football!
Not just because of the money alone!

In Mick I trust.

In Marcus Evans....the jury is still out

Ambition is fine but it has to be within the clubs means.

To quote Abba: Money, money, money.

I don't see Fulham challenging for promotion or the playoffs next season to be honest, could be proved wrong but I think there are much better sides in this league including us. I also doubt that their manager will last the season.

Money talks. If that's his motivation then let him go there. We want players who are here because they want to be. Plenty other targets out there. If only Fulham wanted him then he can't be that good anyway!

topguy added 16:53 - Jun 19
I think it might of been a situation where Fulham needed him more than he needed them where we are not at that desperate stage so he had the power to tell them what they had to pay an avg player who has had one good season in a side who was weak and would look the part in a team with good players wont look the same.

We were interested, but he chose another option, good luck to him.
Maybe he fancied being in London, maybe the money was the deciding factor or perhaps he genuinely thinks Fulham have a better chance of promotion - they underperformed & we overperformed perhaps!
It doesn't matter what his reasons are, he's entitled to them. We move on and get someone else.

Seem to recall that last year or was it the previous season(could have been both)Leeds were signing loads of players and it didn't get them very far; as for Fulham think they splashed out something like 10m on a striker, who when he played us looked as though he liked too many pies!
