Howe Confirms New Cherries Contract for Fraser
Friday, 26th Jun 2015 18:10

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has confirmed that the Cherries have offered new Blues loanee Ryan Fraser a contract extension and that he sees the Scotland U21 international having a long-term future at Dean Court.

Fraser’s current contract at Bournemouth is up at the end of June 2016 but, as TWTD reported earlier, Howe says new terms are on offer.

“We are in negotiations to extend Ryan’s contract,” he told Cherries Player after the 21-year-old completed his season-long loan switch to Town earlier this afternoon.

“We see his long-term future with us and this loan move is about developing him and making him a better player.”

He added: “I felt if I couldn’t guarantee Ryan a starting spot then I needed to get him games.

“This is hopefully a really good opportunity for him to get a consistent run of games at a good level and show everyone how good he can be.

“I think Ryan has the attributes and the ability required and is still developing into a top class wide player.”

Send him back long term loan is a waste of time

Let's just hope he rejects the new contract on offer and keeps his options open for 2016.

Why is a season-long loan a waste of time? It's a perfect opportunity for all parties surely?

Who knows where both clubs will be at the end of 2015-16 season?

Kesgraveblue57 that's a stupid remark He may be really good for us and get us promoted. In any event if MM changes his mind I'm sure he can terminate the deal. Town don't have the finance to buy loads of players and this is the modern way of doing things.

If it has to be loans, I prefer the season long ones. Means the player will be available for play offs etc if needed. These 93 day loans aren't great for consistency. We know we have Fraser for the season.

Boo don't sign. Rather have him for a season than some old cast off on a free which would only probably be a year anyway

Could be a decent signing, let's wait '& see. At least Tabby won't be the smalleśt on the pitch anymore! :-)

Don't want to become a feeder club for little Bournemouth though!

Signing a contract extension is win win all round: Ryan knows he is only on loan yes, but will want to play his absolute best to ensure next season he in their 1st team. Nothing wrong with quality players on loan - look at Patrick Bamford & Darren Bent as examples (& prob lots more)! MM got plans!! Brett Pitman always a threat in front of goal. COYB!

I hope there isn't a recall clause, but I suspect there might be.
However, people need to get off their high horse about the indignity of Bournemouth sending a player to Ipswich for development purposes - they are in the PL, we're not.

Marc Pugh and Kevin Bru... Now there's a thought. We'd all be "ooo" ING all the time.

Pugh and Arter are two of the best platters in their team who will both thrive in Pl I believe so I'm afraid we won't see Pugh

Surely cant have a re-call clause or is meaningless it being part of the deal as they could recall him tomorrow or whenever so hope not if so not for a few months till they can recall
