Stevenage Prices Announced
Tuesday, 7th Jul 2015 13:26

Town have confirmed the prices for the Capital One Cup first round tie against League Two Stevenage at Portman Road on Tuesday 11th August (KO 7.45pm), the first home game of the new season.

Adult tickets will be £12, concessions (over-60s, NUS card-holding students, under-20s and disabled fans) £8 and juniors £3. Seats will go on sale via the usual channels soon.

The sides last met in the competition two seasons ago when Boro, who are now managed by ex-England international Teddy Sheringham, ran out 2-0 winners at Broadhall Way, the only time the teams have previously faced one another in competitive action.

Last year the Blues exited the Capital One Cup at the first hurdle, losing 1-0 away at Crawley Town after extra-time. It was the ninth time the Blues had been knocked out of the competition by a side from a lower division in 12 seasons. Manager Mick McCarthy is yet to win a cup tie since taking over as Town boss.

The Blues' best recent performance in the Capital One Cup was reaching the semi-finals in 2010/11 when they were defeated by Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Town have agreed a five-year extension to their link-up with Advanced Ticketing, the company behind the Talent Sport ecommerce platform which drives the club’s ITFC Direct website.

Blues director Jonathan Symonds said: “Having a strategic partner that provides us with a flexible technology roadmap that we can influence was a significant factor in retaining our relationship with Advanced.

“We’re looking forward to working together with the Advanced team to deliver targeted data driven online fan engagement strategies that reward loyalty and attract new fans.”

Elsewhere, Town are again being linked with wantaway Cardiff striker Adam Le Fondre. Wolves are said to be leading the chase for the 28-year-old, who is also said to be interesting former loan club Bolton and the Blues.

Town would seem unlikely to want another senior striker with Brett Pitman recently having joined Daryl Murphy, David McGoldrick and Freddie Sears in the squad.

That about sums up all that is wrong with the way the game is run

Just get rid of the banding, reduce match day ticket prices and make tickets easier to get

Good prices- school holidays hopefully a decent turnout

I find the online ticketing system sometimes hard to use - but magnificent mumbo jumbo empty talk from Jonathan Symonds (is he the fat one or the tall one ?)
Looking forward to receiving some targeted engagement data soon- hint - offers on lager are of most interest.

Jonathan(previously joint MD with Mr Milne, and slightly rotund)should know that half of us Tractor boys and Girls can hardly read LOL;so wont be able to understand gobbledegook.!Makes me think I was back at work reading memo?

I know it has been said by club(Mr Simmonds?)that this system has worked well;but I have heard several comments to contrary. The ticket office is however still there for queries and exceptionally will issue over phone if computer problems;but it depends who you get at the other end of phone as I encountered one very unhelpful bloke.

Bearing in mind Evans Group's business this should be unacceptable, however staff in shop most accommodating.

As tickets can still be obtained from club shop personally and exceptionally ticket office,I cannot see why this season the club cannot re-introduce for a small surcharge ordering by phone;for those who do not have,or are not computer literate.

Personally, have been working with computers since 1969,and we have our cup tickets sent automatically as we live away from PR;but feel for others and would be good public relations,as would making ex gratia payments to former unsatisfied Creditors should club reach the promised land this season!!!

Good prices set by the club, deserve credit for that. This game is always a chance to give fringe players an opportunity to impress and get fitness up. Would say a crowd of about 10,000

Very good prices. That said, with it being the Summer holidays, I wonder if it will hinder turnout with people being away or having other things on. Midweek games are also tricky for those working and living long distances away.

Can't see anything in the le Fondre rumour. We have four excellent strikers. We now need to add depth and options to the defence and purchase that all important midfielder who scores goals.

Phil - I know that I have lived in Wales too long and must come home soon, but does Jonathan Symonds' 'deliver targeted data driven online fan engagement strategies' mean anything at all in my beautiful Suffolk now?

I am obviously in the minority of town fans that realises we are in the 21st century. I am a lapsed ST holder due to other commitments, so I buy tickets on an ad-hoc basis. I have found the online system very simple to use.
most of the issues arise when suddenly we have a big game come up (scum in playoffs for example) and the 19k gates suddenly jump to c.30k and all those people who haven't been in years (due to prices, that suddenly they CAN afford after all) realise they've not got a customer number for themselves and all their mates.

Huge gigs and festivals sell out in minutes all the time, and we're talking of 50,000 -150,000 people who all manage on line just fine. Wake up Suffolk!

Good prices (sadly the other ticketing news appears to have diverted attention). Or maybe we just like complaining about high prices more than commending low ones...

Previously I've experienced better run jumble sales than at the PR ticket office!!!!

Although flexible technology roadmaps we could probably do without ...assuming we had a Scooby what they were....

Wouldn't expect to pay as much as this to watch the reserves play!
