Beattie Misses Out
Beattie Misses Out
Friday, 1st Mar 2002 13:10

Southampton striker James Beattie has been ruled out of Saturday's Premiership game at Portman Road. Saints had hoped that Beattie would have got over his calf injury. Southampton are already without captain Jason Dodd.

Manager Gordon Strachan said: "James is definitely not ready for the Ipswich match."

He also has worries over other members of his strike force and Jo Tessem seems set to start up front: "Brett [Ormerod] is fittish, he is still getting strapped up. He has a different strapping every day but it says a lot for him that he is prepared to do it. He got through on adrenaline last week. James Beattie is not ready and Marian has not trained at all this week. But I don't want the players to be worrying that Beatts is not there. I want them to be positive because we have Kevin Davies back from suspension."

Agustin Delgado is also out with a knee injury.
