Pitman Injury Not Serious
Wednesday, 22nd Jul 2015 12:53

Town boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that the foot injury striker Brett Pitman suffered in last night’s friendly at Cambridge United is nothing serious.

Pitman, 27, limped off just after half-time, having scored his fourth goal in three pre-season games before the break as the Blues won 3-2.

“It’s not too serious, just a bit of bruising,” McCarthy told the club site.

“He had ice on his foot and he said he was fine, but as soon as the second half kicked off we could tell he wasn’t fine so we took him off as a precaution. Thankfully it’s nothing serious and he’s fine.

“Jonny Parr and Murph were missing against Cambridge but they will both be in action against Peterborough on Saturday.”

After last night’s game McCarthy also confirmed that Darren Ambrose, who is training at Playford Road as he tries to win a new contract, will also be available for the trip to London Road having recovered from a minor niggle.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth manager Paul Cook says he’ll talk to the various trialists, including Town’s Matt Clarke, who were involved in last night’s friendly against Coventry about his plans for them: “We’ll speak to them all individually and see where that takes us.”

McCarthy has said he'd be happy for the 18-year-old defender to join the League Two club on loan in order to gain first-team experience.

Surely been discussed before, but why don't we have shirt sponsors for our pre-season games this summer?

From what I gather it's the U21 kit they're wearing - no squad names and numbers on the back - and they've not put the sponsor on yet.

Pitman will never make it on Strictly - from the looks of the photo he's miles away from his partner when they're in hold...

new signings to come in to fill various numbers. Have to expect signings during next week. We've had scouts at swindons pre season games as well as at the back end of last season ,so i wonder who is being watched.

Mick McCarthy does John Cooper-Clarke.
Sounds like he's fine.

I'm usually a fan of Bialkowski, however their goals were dissapointing - the first is obviously the defences fault, however he didn't get near it....

Maitland-Niles seems to have made a good start - lets hope that can continue into the season, and I really hope Tabb at left back was just a one off!!

Don't think the keeper was at blame for any if them. Plus kept us in the game on more than one occasion in dussledorf! Happy with our keepers, just hoping these signings will be cover at the back!

Judging by that picture, let's hope Pitman runs off a stone or two during pre-season too.

Nice to see the clip with the goals for us overseas who can not go to as many games a s we would like to.
Btw, I see that Stephen Kelly has rejected a new contract with Reading and will be leaving the club. Rightback, Irish international. Sounds like the perfect deal for us.

I am really excited by his arrival. Great bit of business by the club. Looking forward to watching him in a Town shirt this coming season. Get well soon Brett, we need you.

Great signing .... But still lack a midfielder and defender .... Danny drinkwater from Leicester I think you would be a quality singing for us he is an excellent championship player and still has a lot of potential and has great creativity on the ball. Defender I think we need at least 1 or 2 .... Who has cover of Berra or smith if they are injured ? And right back we can't keep playing chambers there... Andrew Robertson for hull can play RB or LB a brilliant player ! However I doubt hull would let him go but if they did it would be on big money.

I think BlueSwede could be spot on with the suggestion of Stephen Kelly.
Proven right back, who has played cover at centre half when called upon.
Irish, with full international caps. Would no doubt have more had Coleman at Everton not come along.
Has played in the Premiership with Tottenham, Birmingham & Fulham.
Free transfer having rejected a new contract at Reading. Must be regarded by them.
Just seen that he is now 31, but a 2 year + options contract will not be a problem, especially on a free.
Ticks a lot of boxes for Mick surely.
I like William's shout for Danny Drinkwater too, but would imagine that would be too costly for us. Leon Brittan from Swansea or Giles Barnes from Houston Dynamos would be good options also.
