Anderson Training With Scunthorpe
Thursday, 23rd Jul 2015 12:33

Released Blues midfielder Paul Anderson is training with League One Scunthorpe United.

Anderson, who celebrates his 27th birthday today, has clarified reports that he is on trial with the Iron, tweeting that he is only training with the Lincolnshire side.

Anderson, who celebrates his 27th birthday today, was told no contract was on offer at Town at the end of the season but that a deal might be on the table later in the summer.

However, no new terms were forthcoming and the former Hull City, Liverpool and Bristol City man remains without a club.

Fulham and Wigan both showed interest in the winger, who scored Town’s goal in the first leg of the play-off semi-final against Norwich City, and Birmingham were linked, while he turned down an offer from Charlton earlier in the summer.

I wish him well. Personally I would have kept him above Tabb and also surely better than Ambrose who is injury prone. Accept that Ambrose hasn't re signed as of yet, but surely Anderson the better option.

Agree entirely with you Jas, cannot understand why he was ditched. Would be handy coming off the bench!

Agree with you Jas0999. Hopefully MM is intending to sign 2/3 defenders and a 3rd goalkeeper prior to the beginning of the season though so he's not signed Anderson to save money.

Am I the only one that's a little worried about the amount of goals we've conceded in the last 2 games? Yes, it's pre-season but we've shipped a lot. Could be a high scoring 6-5 at Brentford if we leave things as they are....

If he were to end up at Scunthorpe after training with them. I wonder what Charlton had offered him in comparison to what Scunthorpe could offer him, if he turned that down.

His girlfriend lives in lincoln ,he has a personal trainer who is based in lincoln who has been working out with over the summer ,this is simply the next step to staying fit ,he no doubt has offers and is taking his time .

Was a decent sub for the last month on the basis he ran around a lot. Which was useful, but we need a bit more than that. Wish him well. Would like to see Ambrose stay -if we can get him fit - low wages and decent shot on him.

Anderson was a good player for us, so I agree with the other posters saying that we should have kept him. He came in & worked hard, which was probably the reason Mick wanted him to replace the more mercurial JET. Sometimes, in games against the better more attacking sides, away from home, you need to have harding working wingers/midfielders who will do the dirty work, like tracking back to help out or offer cover to the full backs; Anderson did this (to be fair so too did Tabb & S. Hunt when fit).
We look a far bigger threat on the wings now with Fraser, Niles, Connolly & a reborn Hensall, but I wonder if we might miss the hard work & experience of Anderson (who also has goals in him) if some tight tough games that surely lie ahead.

Not good enough if you want to compete at the top end of the table. Simple as that.
He is a trier though so hope he gets fixed up somewhere soon.

@Guru of Ipswich. Me too, but the chap in the bottom-right-hand corner doesn't seem too impressed!

I reckon he was still annoyed that skuse passed the ball to chambo in the 21st minute!

A decent player, hope he gets a deal at another Championship club.
He's not the type of winger to win you games, but a good option to bring on to hold onto a lead

Why was my comment deleted? it was in no way offensive, I merely reiterated the fact that Ando would be a useful squad player for us this season

Great work ethic. Wish him the best. Scunthorpe seems about right.

He was one of the hardest working players you will see but he was a winger who never beat his man.

Why do people think this lad was good last year? He did work hard but he has no end product at all. I'm sure he's a good bloke but he's not getting us promoted.

Tabb was kept because his contract allowed him to activate another year if he played so many games.

Davin, He had no end product? So why did he have more assists than any other player?

Good point blues1 - I think Anderson offered considerably more than people realise. He's too good for league 1 as well...

I mentioned in another post around this topic: what about converting him into a right back? Busy, quick, likes to get forward. McCarthy could do a bit of work with him on his positioning. Never too old to learn something new...

Anderson was a failure in reality, a poor replacement for JET, I think Scunthorpe is just about his level. Will be interesting to see if S Hunt gets another club. Both worked hard but that was about it

I can see where people are coming from with Anderson...

Great worker and wore the shirt with "adopted pride" is how I've have always felt with him. He will forever be remembered for that goal at PR against the scum, and I hope he realises he will never need to pay for a pint in Suffolk.

However not good enough for our ambitions but I wish him the best of luck in the rest of his career. Top Lad
