Saturday, 25th Jul 2015 14:13

Former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Giles Coke is training with the Blues and starts this afternoon’s friendly at Peterborough United (KO 3pm). Coke, 29 is to spend the next few days training at Playford Road.

The Westminster-born midfielder played youth football with QPR before moving on to Kingstonian, Mansfield, Northampton and Motherwell before joining the Owls in 2010.

While with Wednesday Coke spent time on loan at Bury, Swindon and towards the end of last season Bolton. He was released in the summer and was recently on trial with Blackburn.

We seem to be picking up other team's ageing cast offs again instead of spending some of the 8m to really challenge for the top 2 like other contenders are doing. Lets see some quality brought in at right back and between the sticks. Our defence is now our weakness.

Decent squad player. Not much different to what we already have but maybe just a short term replacement for Hyam

whos to say he wont work out to be a star, when we first got DM he wasn't much younger and his form haddent been great, but would you not want him now, give him a chance as you never know some players play for certain managers.

Should add a bit of fizz to the midfield.

Right first name, wrong second name. Now if it were Giles Barnes, who has completely revived his career with Houston Dynamo, after injury, I would be a lot more interested.

If supporting Ipswich under Mick McCarthy has taught me anything, then it's not to judge a book by it's cover. He may be garbage or he may be a great find. Let's at least let him get into his kit before we have a pop at him.

What other "ageing cast offs" have we picked up gippeswyk?

And since when has being in your 20's been described as "ageing"?!

Will a sparkling display today really tell us if he's the real thing tho?

Would be a sweet signing and could pop straight into our midfield.

To all the "Football Managers" out there claiming we should do this and do that with 8 million. Haven't you learnt or witnessed yourselves personally what Mick can do? Man give this 2 years ago with any of our previous managers and maybe I would of been on the same boat. But with Mick McCarthy at the helm, anyone who he considers fit to play for us I trust. He gets the best out of players and even if we did spend 8million what guarantee does that give apart from satisfying people that we have spent 8 mil? Just pipe down and let Mick work his magic.
