Blues and Leeds Targeting Dallas
Friday, 31st Jul 2015 14:02

Town are battling Leeds United to land Brentford’s Northern Irish international winger Stuart Dallas.

According to well-connected Brentford site Beesotted, the 24-year-old, who was linked with a £1.5 million move to Scottish giants Rangers earlier in the summer, is now the subject of interest from the Blues and former Bees boss Uwe Rosler’s current club Leeds.

Cookstown-born Dallas started his career with Northern Irish side Crusaders before joining Brentford in the summer of 2012.

Having spent two months on loan at Northampton late in 2013, Dallas has gone on to make 38 starts and 37 sub appearances for the Bees, scoring eight goals. He is contracted for another two years.

Capped by Northern Ireland at full, U23, U21 and U17 levels, last season he made 25 starts and 18 sub appearances, scoring eight goals as the Bees finished the Championship season in fifth, one place ahead of the Blues, who they face on the opening day of 2015/16 at Griffin Park.

Manager Mick McCarthy, who earlier today was linked with veteran wideman Jobi McAnuff, may well be interested in adding a more experienced winger to his squad having signed youngsters Ryan Fraser and Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan from Bournemouth and Arsenal earlier in the summer.

As reported last night, we understand the Blues are in talks regarding the addition of three players with Danish left-back Jonas Knudsen expected at the club for a medical and contract talks today.

Trialist Giles Coke is also understood to be close to being handed a contract after impressing McCarthy in the last two friendlies and in training.

I would be delighted with this signing.

Dallas and Fraser, plus AMN supplying ammo for Murphy, Didz, Pitman and Sears.

This really is national orgasm day!!!

I'd be much happier with this signing rather than Jobi McAnuff. It's just nice to see us linked with players at last!

I could see Mick doing this deal, and AMN being used through the centre as he sometimes was for Arsenal.

He'd fit in nicely with a beard like that!

I agree this will be a great signing but why would Brentford let him go ? They are a Club on the up with a new ground on the horizon and highly ambitious owners. Would love if it happens but just can't see him coming here.

Agreed Green Army.. he looks the most likely replacement I've seen us linked with to replace Ando's beard that was obviously let go at the end of the season. Not sure Ambrose for example, if taken on, would be able to provide that kind of beard to fill the gap...

Dallas was only a squad player last season - Brentford are obviously having a clear out. Not sure that's a wise move from them though

I highly rate Dallas he would be a great signing, is this the end for henshall and Stewart's first team chances?

Dallas was very good when I saw him and he has a beard to replace Anderson.

That would take a fee that we may not be prepared to pay. A great signing if it comes off ,but i suspect we may be disappointed.

How about moving to get Alex Pritchard loan or buy from Spurs, he was their best player by a country mile, probably the best player in the Championship, certainly better that Patrick Bamford.

Nysully- Spurs have already come out and said he won't be going out on loan this season, I agree it would be a good signing but it won't happen

we seem to be getting linked with a lot more players since Mick said they were working on making more signings. Giles Coke seems an odd one to me given he has Ambrose if he wants him.
I'malready happy with the squad so any more signings is just a bonus and continuous step in the right direction! COYB! feeling even more confident than this time last year!!

DamnITFC - I could be way off but I think Brentford will be markedly worse for his loss and I think we are better than last year, I expect a repeat of Boxing Day Saturday week.

I assume the link to Rangers is due to Warburton now managing up there.

Perhaps he is unsettled at Brentford due to the new regime there?? Brentford fans I know are very fond of him so could be a great buy and an interesting first game!!

With Leeds involved this could be a potential transfer soap opera. Best watch this one closely.

According to Phil Hay - Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds have agreed a 3 year deal with him with an option of a 4th year, just the medical required... No details of fee but thought to be in excess of £1m
