Touré Deal Confirmed
Monday, 3rd Aug 2015 17:32

Town have confirmed the signing of Guinean international Larsen Touré on a one-year deal with the deal including an option for a further season. Manager Mick McCarthy confirmed that the on-trial 31-year-old was set to join the Blues after Saturday’s friendly draw with FC Utrecht.

Touré, who will wear the number 39 shirt while with the Blues, started his senior career with Lille and had spells on loan with Gueugnon and Grenoble before joining his hometown club Brest on a permanent basis in 2010.

Three years later he moved to Bulgaria and Levski where he spent a year alongside Kevin Bru before returning to France and playing with Ligue 2 Arles-Avignon last season with whom he made 21 starts and seven sub appearances, scoring five goals, while also picking up three red cards and six bookings.

The 6ft tall attacker has won six full caps with Guinea. His father, Mady Touré, also played football in France, for Brest and Orléans.

Touré will be Town’s second Guinean international, Mauritania-born former defender Drissa Diallo also having played for the West African nation.

The Blues are also set to sign ex-Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Giles Coke, another recent trialist, and Brentford’s Jonathan Douglas.

3 red cards in 28 games last season, not one to be messed with!

I'm sorry, I'm not convinced by this. I wish him well, but red cards is not what we want and he's not exactly a goal machine! That said, he's probably just another option and fairly cheap, so no harm.

Could be the new Manuel Thetis! As with Bru and Bajner last year he could make it or he might not. But worth a punt and I trust MMs scouting network. Oh sorry, he didn't cost £8 million so this naturally has to be a bad move.......

Actually it was 33, 39 was his age..

Let's hope this guy is better than him & some of the others we have had through the doors in recent times.

Mick may maker other similar signings before the season.... Larsen is perhaps just a Guinea pig...

He must have something or Mick wouldn't have taken a punt. We are in a much different and better position than we were this time 12 months ago. Bajner was taking a chance, or so it turned out, but our squad is stronger, more experienced, finely tuned and strengthened by signings such as this in my view as we build each year.

Toure in an unknown quantity for us. From the little I've seen of him his certainly a big unit and will add a bit of muscle to proceedings. Time will tell if his a Bru or a Bajner but in the meantime lets give him a fair crack and welcome him aboard. MM clearly sees something in him and I doubt his signed him just for Bru to play Xbox with.

We did have £8m until MM started handing out contracts to the over 30's.
Probably most of it gone now and with it a big opportunity for Town.
