Finidi George says he is worried by the club's current plight, but that there is time for the Blues to improve the situation if they work hard. The Nigerian scored Town's goal on Saturday, but he says the shine was rather taken off it by the result and performance.

The ex-Ajax man said: "Football is my profession and I am quite worried about the situation. After last season when the club did so well I was obviously hoping we would be up near the top of the table again but these things happen in football.

"We have 11 matches to go and every game is hard in the Premiership. I am sure we will be OK in the end though but we must work very hard to get it right.

"I am normally very happy when I score but victory is what we needed against Southampton and we didn't play well enough to get it."
