Former Town striker Chris Kiwomya is to have a two-week trial at Grimsby Town. Since leaving AaB Aalborg in Denmark towards the end of 2001 the 31-year-old has interested a number of US clubs but is now set to try to win a contract at Blundell Park.

Grimsby are in need of another striker after their loanee from Charlton, Martin Pringle, suffered an horrific injury during their recent match with Stockport.

Due to the complex regulations surrounding loan players, the Mariners cannot get anyone else in on loan until the end of the month. An out-of-contract player, such as Kiwomya presents no such problem.

Whilst at Aalborg Kiwmoya played alongside current Town player Thomas Gaardsøe.
