Malarczyk Due at Town Today
Monday, 24th Aug 2015 15:11

TWTD understands that Polish defender Piotr Malarczyk is due at Portman Road later today for talks regarding his proposed switch from Korona Kielce. Earlier today, Polish reports revealed that the Blues had moved for the right-back or centre-half.

Town manager Mick McCarthy refused to be drawn on his interest in the 24-year-old when quizzed at this afternoon’s press conference.

“I hope we get one of them,” he said, implying he has more than one current target. “We’re trying to get somebody in. I’ll let them all talk about it and I’ll tell you if we do it.”

He confirmed that he is still looking for additions: “If the right player at the right price, if something comes along. We’re still on the lookout.”

The Town boss reiterated that no one - aside perhaps from youngsters going out on loan - will be leaving the Blues.

As above, I know the end bit is certainly pronounced Chick. So I'd guess it was Pet-er Ma-lar-chick.

Let's hope he turns out to be as good as the other signings this summer

I can cope with "Ma-lar-chick"! Thanks. I am still burned from learning to say "Krzyzewski" ;-)

Although not a done deal by any stretch (fingers crossed though)... I was just wondering (and I'm calling on the pub quiz knowledge of the TWTD faithful here), have we ever had a Polish player at town??? I'm stretching my thinking cap all the way back to 1991 when I started going, but no one springs to mind.

Very promising indeed. Great start and need to build on it. Slipped up last season with having too few players. Doesn't look like we will make the same mistake again!

sirbenofmorlingshire Ha! I think many on here would forgive you for wanting to forget about Priskin at least...

I love how Mick doesn't get caught up in the media hoopla surrounding signings. None of this will they/won't they drama. It's a "we're looking at someone". Then two day later they have signed and we had no idea who it was going to be. As I fan, I certainly prefer this method.

To be fair, Priskin is Hungarian but perhaps rather forgettable all the same...

WarkOn - Priskin sprang to mind with me too, but I didn't want to dig up bad memories googling him. I'd convinced myself he was Latvian though, so we'd both score 0 on the pub quiz for that one! (rather like his goal tally for us LOL!)
