Dozzell and Hayes Could Win Caps

Academy first-year scholars Andre Dozzell and Nick Hayes could win caps this afternoon when the England U17s take on San Marino in the opening game of their European Championship first round qualification group in Portugal.

The England youngsters subsequently face Armenia on Thursday and then the hosts on Sunday.

The top two teams in the group progress through to the elite stage of qualifying in March. The 16-team European Championship finals are being staged in Azerbaijan in May.

Midfielder Dozzell, 16, has previously won three U17 caps and keeper Hayes, also 16, two.

I know we do not have Academy One status but still, Man City three in the squad and then Spurs and Chelsea with two in the squad and also Ipswich with two. Quite a few Premier League clubs not represented, as Homer Simpson might say 'In your face, Norwich'.
