Yorwerth Off to Winning Start at Crawley
Tuesday, 29th Sep 2015 21:50

Josh Yorwerth’s loan spell at Crawley got off to a winning start with the Red Devils winning 3-0 away at Newport County.

The Wales U21 international, who joined the 21st-placed League Two club earlier today on loan until October 25th, played the full 90 minutes on his league debut.

Elsewhere, Matt Clarke’s Portsmouth lost 2-1 at home to Exeter City and dropped from the top of League Two to third in the table. The 19-year-old is on loan with Pompey until January.

Blues winger Cameron Stewart was an unused sub as Doncaster drew 2-2 at home to Swindon in League One. The 24-year-old is with Rovers until January.

One week he is playing at the home of the team top of the Prem, the next at the team bottom of the League!

And last week he was playing against the Red Devils, this he's playing for the Red Devils!

I am assuming he is on a 24 hour recall clause. If so, this is an ok move. Keeps him fit and ready for action if we need him.

Slightly concerned though that we seem to be expecting Chambers, Berra, Smith and Knudsen to basically play 90 mins of every game. Exhaustion is a factor.

We do need him. Not going to bang on about our back four, but sending some one out on loan who showed some great potential and more than that! Plus a goal.
Is it really a wise move?

Some odd decisions are being made and favorites are being established no matter what form they are in. That usually marks the beginning of the end for a manager, at least it has done in previous years. Last year we got where we were through sheer determination, togetherness and 27 goals from a player full of confidence having the best season of his life. This year we look like last seasons shadows!

Barring a bad run of injuries, what chance do Yowerth and Clarke really have of ever playing regularly for us? This is not a moan or a criticism, just an open question.

Well done Josh, it would appear your presence stabilised Crawley's defence!
Not going too well for Butch, although circumstances were always going to be tough, probably why Edinburgh left when he did.

So, Steve_ITFC_Sweden asks a simple pertinent question and gets a minus for it.....weird!

the way murphy has been playing maybe we should have kept him here for emergency striker cover lol!
not sure what is going on with murphy. he made me eat humble pie last season as i never imagined he'd get over 20 goals, let alone nearly 30. i thought he was a steady eddie 10 or 15 goals a seas max type player. i like how he has 2 feet but i've just never been convinced by him, but last season he made me seriously re-evaluate. but then when the offers of 4 million or so came in i wondered if last season might of been a 1 season wonder and should we cash in, after all he was 31. not to mention his wages will have probably tripled or at least double off the back of his great season. but i'm wondering if others aren't feeling maybe we should have sold up. that said, if the club had of sold they'd of got a lot of stick for showing no ambition and we'd of never known whether he would have kept firing if he'd of stayed here. football is never certain. i've just go at bad feeling murphy is going to have a stinker this season. i really hope i'm wrong as i want him to recapture last season's form as much as any town fan, as if he starts banging them in it's happy days again. perhaps he just needs to find a goal to get his confidence back up but the thing that is worrying me is that he doesn't even look like scoring at the moment. maybe a penalty or a lucky deflection might be what he needs, anything to get him up and running. so come on murphy, you sure proved me wrong last season and i'm hoping you can do likewise again this season!!! :-)

and i confess i can be a little fickle at times, for example, last season after losing to norwich 1 nil (when murphy missed an easy header) in the first game at portman road, i was ranting and raving and i wondered whether mick would take us anywhere, but credit where credit is due, they did a great job getting us into the plays off. but i just want to hold my hand up and confess i was criticising mick and murphy after that game but at the same time, i live in the back yard of norfolk and get a hell of a lot of stick when we lose and i felt badly let down, feeling sure run high in these parts lol! it was an over reaction on my behalf, but i'm sure i'm not the first footy fan to be up and down like a yo yo! :-)

I think they have a very good chance of playing for us long term.
Berra & Chambers are no spring chickens.

I would imagine the club view Clarke as Berras eventual replacement alongside Smith.
You can never really plan that far ahead in football with transfers, injuries, change of management etc..

Loyalty to players is one thing but when the team starts to suffer, it starts turning against you

Midastouch, my sentiments exactly about Murph. Maybe the club would have accepted the bids but it is also down to Murphy as well as he is on a contract & maybe he felt we would go up this year. It would be excellent if he could score a hatful of goals again but I really can't see that happening.

Hope both Yorwerth and Clarke both make the grade at our level but it is a massive step up for them to play regularly in the Championship. Saw Pompeys conceded goals last night and Clarke was slow off the mark in closing down the scorer of Exeters first goal. The second goal sailed over his head but at the end of the day playing at Pompey is a great experience for him and he is getting regular football. Heres hoping we see both of them regularly in a Town shirt in the future.

not sure why there is negativity around this move? its only a short loan to get games. He is very unlikely to feature for us in the next 28 days (with another International break coming up also) and we have plenty of cover still at the club with Smith, Berra, Chambers & Malarcyyk options for CB
