Duo Could Win England U17 Caps

Academy first-year scholars Andre Dozzell and Nick Hayes could win caps this afternoon when the England U17s take on Armenia in the second game of their European Championship first round qualification group in Portugal.

Dozzell was in the side which thrashed San Marino 8-0 in their opening game on Tuesday, while Hayes was an unused sub. Armenia were beaten 7-0 by the hosts in their opening game.

The England youngsters complete their group matches with a fixture against the Portuguese on Sunday.

The top two teams in the group progress through to the elite stage of qualifying in March. The 16-team European Championship finals are being staged in Azerbaijan in May.

Midfielder Dozzell, 16, has previously won four U17 caps and keeper Hayes, also 16, two.
