Oar's Australia Defeated in Jordan
Thursday, 8th Oct 2015 17:11

Town winger Tommy Oar started and won his 27th full Australia cap but was substituted at half-time as the Socceroos lost 2-0 to Jordan in Amman this afternoon.

Australia went behind when Hassan Abdel-Fattah scored from the penalty spot in the 47th minute and Hamza Al Dardour doubled the lead with six minutes remaining.

The result sees the Jordanians replace the Socceroos at the top of the group, Oar’s side having previously had a 100 per cent record after beating Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh and Tajikistan in their first three matches.

Their next qualifier is against Kyrgyzstan in Canberra in November.

I thought the Ozzies where half decent? Are they really that pump then? Or are Jordan decent?

Shafi is proving to be a top class goalkeeper. This result flattered Jordan as the guy pulled off great save after great save.

The 5 saves in the first half were particularly impressive. As were 4 of the saves in the second. Most of the other saves were routine but Australia had tonnes of shots on goal. Outstanding keeping. Can't remember the last time I said that about an ITFC Keeper.

Oar seemed to have a good first half.

They're probably the first footballers to have come away from Jordan without scoring.
