Minute's Silence Prior to Wolves Match
Thursday, 19th Nov 2015 14:55

Town have announced that there will be a minute’s silence prior to Saturday’s home game against Wolves in memory of Márton Fülöp and the victims of last Friday’s attacks in Paris.

Former Blues keeper Fülöp died aged only 32 last Thursday after a long battle with cancer.

think a minutes silence for paris is great, but think a minutes applause for Fulop in either (21st minute) his shirt number, or 32nd minute(his age at the time of his tragic death)would be more appropiate.

Agree 100%
Both should be observed but they're two very different things.
There's a massive distinction between losing our ex-goalkeeper to cancer and terrorist attacks. The applause would be a better idea.

We at 'Itfc Fans Page' on Facebook have organised an applause in the 21st minute for Marton, can as many people as possible join in with this and let people know who are going, thanks ~ James-Itfc Fans Page admin

I agree it is not all that sensitive to lump the two incidents together. I suspect the authorities believe fans can't be trusted to behave appropriately in these situations and they try to get them over with as quickly or as painlessly as possible. Sometimes, they might have a point: what was going on during the "silence" at the Irland-Bosnia match, I wonder? On the other hand, for England-France, the crowd behaved impeccably, and I'm pretty sure ITFC fans would too.

Yeah definately a minutes applause for Marton I think.
Maybe 21st minute would be best as its personal to us as Town fans?
But i'll go with consensus of opinion & make sure it starts in SBR lower.

........ what's wrong with both a minutes silence, and applause in the 21st minute ? - both very appropriate .

The very least we can do for both causes.

Totally agree
Will be on my feet in SAR lower on 21 minutes to recognise the loss of Marton
Coming to the game with my pal who is a wolves fan
Will get him to join in no problem.

During the minute's silence at Ireland v Bosnia game apparently a few of the Bosnians started making a commotion, they were hushed down by some of the other Bosnians and then the Irish crowd began to boo the whole hubbub!

A minutes applause for Marton would in my opinion be appropriate. As horrific as Paris was, it was eight days ago and there has been a National Minutes Silence in Britain already and, of course, the Minute's Silence at the England versus France match at Wembley. The National Team and supporters of the National Team represent all of English football including the domestic Clubs and their supporters. How many Minute's Silences are we expected to observe before it is deemed that we have shown adequate respect? Surely that has been done. And if it is to happen, why not then a Minutes' Silence for the 100 or more that died in Turkey or the more than 200 Russians that have died recently at the hand of ISIS ? I will be in the stadium on Saturday and will observe the Silence, again, but on this occasion I think it unnecessary - it has been done, more
than once and very well. Why again ?

Since we last played there have been many atrocities in the world. I think it would be appropriate to have 45 minutes of silence and just play the second half.

Westy - anyone would think 7/8 days is a lifetime.

Just shows how quickly some people will / can forget such atrocities - knowhere near enough respect in the world today, and far too much selfishness - maybe a symbol of such.

I personally, will be more than happy to observe 'another' minutes silence tomorrow - and shame on anyone who doesn't - like it, or not.

You are missing the point Bluboy1981. You don't need another Minute's Silence to show respect.
