On-Loan Stewart Nets for Doncaster as McCarthy Watches Yorwerth
Tuesday, 24th Nov 2015 22:33

Cameron Stewart came off the bench to score his second goal for loan club Doncaster as they defeated Chesterfield 3-0 at the Keepmoat Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Stewart, who is with League One Rovers until January 2nd, came on in the 77th minute and netted two minutes into injury time. His previous goal came against Sheffield United in September.

The 24-year-old has now made eight starts and five sub appearances since joining the South Yorkshiremen in August.

Elsewhere, in League Two, Town boss Mick McCarthy was at the Broadfield Stadium to watch Josh Yorwerth and his loan side Crawley lose 2-1 at home to 10-man Northampton, while Matt Clarke was an unused sub as Portsmouth thrashed 10-man York 6-0 at Fratton Park.

Good for him that he scored his second goal but he had to "come off the bench" to do it.

Only 8 starts tells me he is not ready to start challenging the Town first team any time soon.

McCarthy was at Crawley, watching Yorwerth. He played very well.

As we all well know from Jordan Rhodes, League One goals DO NOT count. Don't get excited folks.

Cameron Stewart will never play for ITFC again. MM doesn't like something about him, guess it is to do with attitude and work rate. Matt Clarke might as well come back here instead of sitting on the bench at Portsmouth. Maybe we can loan him to someone who will give him games.

I would send Clarke somewhere else, not sure if we have a recall clause? By all accounts he's actually very good and was unlucky to be out of the team when he got a knock but the other centre back took his chance and is now ahead of him. I'm sure Clarke could play first team elsewhere and it's pointless having him on the bench at Portsmouth because he's not gaining anything.

As for Stewart, I very much doubt he'll play for Ipswich again but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

I was at the Portsmouth game last night and boy that was a good second half performance. I managed to grab a word with Clarke and he said he was really happy and learning a lot. The two centre backs were really solid and Burgess in particular impressed along with a pacey winger called Bennett. Worth a look?

Not sure if they are being sent out to get experience,or to save money;as none of them regular starters.

Such a pity regarding the likes of Stewart and if Henshall, without Fraser and Dids we really needed something from the bench last Sat but we had Coke and Toure. Wolves had Le Fondre cost us 2 points!
