McCarthy: Trio’s Return Will Be Bonus
Saturday, 28th Nov 2015 06:00

Town boss Mick McCarthy is looking forward to having Ryan Fraser, Teddy Bishop and David McGoldrick available to him again as the Blues move towards the busy run of fixtures around Christmas.

Fraser could be back at the club at the end of next week having undergone his rehabilitation from the knee ligament injury he suffered in early October back with his parent club Bournemouth.

Bishop is yet to make his first appearance of the season having suffered with shin splints and hamstring problems, while McGoldrick has been out for the last three weeks with a groin problem.

“We’ve come back and matches are coming Saturday, Saturday, Saturday and it’s only after we play MK Dons that we’ve then got Fulham on the 16th [a Tuesday] and then it gets a bit congested over Christmas," the Town boss said.

“It’ll be a bonus to have those players back and I’ve got Luke Hyam who can come back [from Rotherham] on Christmas Eve if needs be, if I have any problems with injuries or suspensions.

“But at the minute we’re all right, we’re in good shape. But I’d like to have David McGoldrick, Teddy Bishop and Ryan Fraser back.

“Can you imagine at the start of the season you think you’ve got those three players and they spend such a long time out injured. It would be nice to have them back.”

He believes he is much better equipped to deal with injury problems than during his previous seasons at the club.

“I’ve said all along I’ve got a stronger squad, more players, better players that actually can play in the team, not just 20 players but I’m only trusting 16 of them,” he added. “I trust every one of them, they can all play in the team.

“And that’s a nice position to be in. But we’ll get injuries, we’ll get suspensions and the three players that we’re talking about are real quality in this league - Ryan, Didz and Teddy are fantastic.”

"...and matches coming Saturday, Friday, Saturday...."

I hope with that middle one that they don't just turn up on the Saturday, otherwise Middlesbrough will walk it...

Arguably our three most exciting players. Would love to see them all in the same starting 11 and firing on all cylinders.
