Henshall Leaves Town
Monday, 1st Feb 2016 16:02

Winger Alex Henshall has left the Blues by mutual consent.

The 21-year-old made one Capital One Cup start and four Championship sub appearances having joined the Blues on a two-year deal from Manchester City in the summer of 2014 after a loan spell at the end of the 2013/14 season.

The former Swindon youngster, who we understand was interesting the MK Dons and Millwall in the summer and had a spell on loan at Blackpool last season, hasn’t featured this term and was made available for transfer in the close season.

Not sure why this has only been done now, Mick clearly hasn't wanted him for months. Shame that this is probably the only "transfer news" that'll be coming out of Portman Road today, but good luck Alex!

Along with Cameron Stewart had a great pre season and were never seen again.........too attacking for MM, I'm sure will do well elsewhere, as per masses of those that have passed thru our doors before.

I really hope all of these departures are freeing up budget for a young, attacking creative midfielder...

He was lightweight and p*ss poor and that's the truth. No desire to get in the side at all.

Can't really work this one out. The lad is always on fire in the pre-season friendlies and obviously has some talent, but for whatever reason he's not bonded with MM.

Forgive my ignorance but I thought we gained players in the transfer window, we seem to have our very own ‘contracts terminated (by mutual consent) window' instead!?!

Good luck Alex

Mick is clearing the decks for a few late deals..... I can just feel it!!!!!!!!!! MM and TC were seen shooting down the A12 the moment the news broke that Frank Bruno is back available on a free....

He should move back to Swindon, the place he started before Man City nicked him.

I don't really think that's the case brendenward35, if he was seen as an option from the bench or stand-in for injuries, maybe, but as it was, he was nowhere near the first team scene, so best to cut losses from both sides and let him sort something else out elsewhere.

Another one out. More wages saved. Fees received. Great window for Marcus Evans.

I think there is several others that stand no chance of making the 1st team and could be released by mutual consent. Certainly a bit of a clear out going on at the moment for one reason or another. Just look through the list of squad numbers/players and then make your own mind up what chance of success we have this season. Even more worrying to me is if McCarthy left or had to leave what on earth would the next manager make of 75% of the available playing staff. What progress has been made in the last 12 months? I say little.

Looks more likely that a loan player or 2 may come in at some time this season, but I feel McCarthy thinks it may well upset the comradeship of his 1st choice 11 and he is not confident good players will be content to play in U21's or bench warmers, without rocking the boat. The club needs something to lift this stagnating feeling. Does not look as though Bishop or McGoldrick are going to be able to play much part in it.

Has been available for some time;but as there probably were not any enquiries to the Club about him, have decided to release him,so that he can continue to look for a club, being a free agent.

Mick brought him in in the first place, so it isn't exactly his desire to keep these kinds of players out of the team. All clubs take on a lot of players that don't work out. It is a shame because these types of players are the ones we really want to get into the team.

Get shot of the 2nd 11. That Mick says in one breath gives him strong cover ,then when they play at portsmouth he says they cause him no selection headache ,oh yes we then get thumped by brum and have a bloke who plays with a fridge on his back sent off. BUT I KNOW MY STRONGEST TEAM. MM F OFF
