Wanderers Hoping for Big Crowd as They Look to Make FA Vase History
Thursday, 4th Feb 2016 09:59

With Town away at QPR on Saturday afternoon, Ipswich Wanderers are encouraging fans to join them at their Humber Doucy Lane home as they look to make history by reaching the quarter-finals of the FA Vase for only the second time (KO 3pm).

Essex side Bowers & Pitsea are Saturday’s opposition with another home tie against Kidlington FC awaiting the winners.

Wanderers previously made the quarter-finals nine years ago when they lost to eventual finalists Totton.

Following last weekend’s 750-mile round trip to win 3-1 at Bodmin Town in the previous round, the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division side are pleased to have a home tie.

That win has seen their odds of eventual victory at Wembley slashed from 80/1 to 33/1.

With Town away, Wanderers are hoping for the backing of a large crowd and are encouraging supporters who may not have tasted non-league football before to give it a go this weekend. Admission is £6 for adults and £3 for concessions.

How is it "making history" if they've previously reached the 1/4 finals?

Because it will be the first time they've ever done it twice?!

Been following Wanderers well this season, certainly been a "cup team". I'll be at qpr Saturday but would definitely recommend anyone who isn't going to loftus road to support Wanderers this weekend!

I'll be there - it's a lovely friendly place and a good way to spend the afternoon.

It's nice to see one ipswich team taking a cup competition seriously instead of throwing the game
