Howe Pleased With Fraser's Progress
Wednesday, 10th Feb 2016 09:16

AFC Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has been pleased with winger Ryan Fraser’s progress during his season-long loan with the Blues.

Howe allowed the Scotland U21 international to join Town on loan as part of the deal which saw Tyrone Mings move to Dean Court for an £8 million fee in the summer.

“I am really pleased for him,” the Cherries manager told the Bournemouth Echo. “I felt it was just what he needed to get games, to become hardened to playing every week and to be exposed to the league.

“I didn’t feel we could guarantee him that and it would have been no good him playing bit-parts from the bench for us for 10 to 15 games.

“We felt this move would be really beneficial for his development at a good club with a good manager. We have been very pleased with his progress and we keep very close tabs on him.”

Fraser, 21, signed a new three-year deal in August and Howe says he’s very much part of his plans for campaigns to come.

“It was good to see how he had progressed as a player and we are very excited to see him next season,” he added.

“We gave him a long-term contract and we believe in him. This loan was only about him being ready for us in a future date.”

Fraser suffered a hamstring injury late on during Town’s 1-0 defeat at QPR on Saturday and manager Mick McCarthy is likely to reveal the extent of the problem at his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

Meanwhile, former Blues trialist Jerome Thomas is training with Rotherham United. The 32-year-old spent a week with the Blues but wasn't offered terms.

Proper winger that town had been crying out for , Pitty we have to face reality that he will return to Bournemouth. But I think of it like if we had purchased him we would probably sell him end of the year anyway (and as we don't reinvest the money we receive) it makes no difference anyway hahah !
But seriously well done Fraser

This reads like he's out for the season.

Hoping the injury isn't serious, as I genuinely to believe he is the difference of us really going for the playoffs or slipping away from it without him. As much as I hope the injury isn't serious, hamstrings are the most annoying injuries you can get, so he won't be rushed back.

Come back next season!!

I like Eddy Howe, comes across as a nice guy when interviewed.. Shame we don't have a young progressive manager at Town but MM was the man to keep us up at the time. The only real surprise for me was the contract extension.

In some repects Mick looks forward ie with contracts;but in the case of Fraser he doesn't.
Ryan is clearly going to be with Bournemouth next season;so when Jonny Williams became available in January why didn't McCarthy snap him up,either on loan as MK Dons have,or even permanently. Its not that he doesn't rate him.

The clubs recruitment policy is really puzzling me at the moment, and is a millstone round Mickmacs neck, whether its self inflicted or not,who knows.

What I do know is that I am glad that both Thomas and Dyer are not joining us.Have the club seen the light, and is it too late.?

Not having the expected announcement about Ryan Frasers hamstring doesn't bode well I fear. It's unlike our manager to play someone who had a tight hamstring after the Reading game.Still I remember the great Sir Bobby doing the same when he was at Ipswich. One player I remember in this situation was Colin Viljoen

Progress? He is doing exactly the same as last season apart from not being part of Championship challenge! He may be keeping fit but I don't think he is 'progressing' under us. Just shows how the Premier League stifles home-grown talent by not giving them the opportunity to play at the highest level.

"Mr Howe. Ryan Fraser is rubbish, you dont want him back. As a favour, we'll take him off your hands though to save you the wages, and we'll take Mingsy back for the whole of the next season and get him match fit for you too."
From Mick's previous record, that might just be the next cheeky conversation he and Eddie have.
We can only dream.

Why don't we produce a banner for next match at PR? From side to side on Sir Bobby's stand: "Marcus Evans - Sell or reinvest!!!" I don't think he visits any forum on TWTD or elsewhere. But some bad publicity for his business could perhaps wake him up and make him open up his wallet.

We banked on Fraser staying fit. Mick and Evans now have egg on their face.
