Maitland-Niles's Mother Leaves McCarthy Abusive Voicemail
Thursday, 7th Apr 2016 23:14

On-loan Arsenal winger Ainsley Maitland-Niles’s mother is reported to have left a foul-mouthed voicemail on Blues boss Mick McCarthy’s phone, leading to her son's recent omission from the Town side.

According to The Sun, the 18-year-old’s mother, Jule Niles was angered by McCarthy preventing the England U19 international from appearing at an England kit launch in March in order to prepare for a Town game.

She called the Blues manager, apparently while abroad, leaving him the lengthy abusive and threatening expletive-packed rant.

McCarthy is said to have left Maitland-Niles out of the squad for Town’s 2-0 home victory over Blackburn as a result.

The youngster hasn’t hasn’t featured for Town since, although he was an unused sub for the subsequent game against Rotherham at Portman Road and was in the 20-man squad for Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with Charlton but was left out of the final 18.

McCarthy is said to have been so shocked at receiving the message that he asked members of his staff to listen to it, reportedly "to make sure I'm not going mad".

Arsenal have been made aware and a Gunners source is quoted as saying: "Mick's a Yorkshireman and he's prepared to tolerate most things, but not something like this.

"The language was disgusting and so poisonous that it even shocked Mick. He's only ever tried to do what's right for the kid and protect his career, but this is something new to him.

"He likes the boy and thinks he has potential to be a top player, but he's worried that his mother is having a detrimental affect on his career.”

It’s not the first time Maitland-Niles’s mother has hit the headlines. Last year she was arrested on suspicion of assaulting two people at Arsenal’s training ground, amongst them Arsene Wenger's negotiator Dick Law. She was later released without charge.

What's wrong with her.

First Wenger and now Mick. How on earth does she think it'll help her sons career.

Very odd. Mick won't like that and she would have got his number off AMN you'd imagine with or without his permission.

Very strange episode. Last we'll see of the lad I think.

Ainsley must feel so embarrassed. Second time this sort of thing has happened after a previous incident at Arsenal. He started off reasonably well but really lost his way throughout the season but that's not a surprise given he is only 18!

No wonder Mick's looked so rattled lately. Poison at every corner.

So he's not played cos of the actions of his mum? Worth noting our results have hardly improved since his departure from the side, been a stand out player and a cut above the rest at times despite his young age. I suppose a forward thinking player with a good touch and bags of natural talent is enough for Mick to look the other way without the abuse from his mum.

Poor lad. Obviously that can't be tolerated but also seems a little unfair on him, he can't help what his interfering old bag of a Mum does and shouldn't suffer because of her actions. To be fair, I'd rather see his Mum start against Brentford on Saturday than Jonny Douglas.

His mothers actions are appalling and highly detrimental to AMN development and reputation in the game. However, i really feel for AMN as he is much better player than Pringle et al and he desperately unlucky to not have played recently. He would been a good loanee to get next season, however i doubt that will be happening now.

I suspect that 20,000 of us might also have wanted to give Mick a similar message after the Rotherham game.

Well, lets ask a question not asked, do you think MMs mobile is listed no, so she got the number off her son, why cause hes wasn't happy at the way hes being asked to play, MM knows this and if he gets a awful voicemail tough, don't ask for sympathy from me, you don't give us any and we have to pay to watch this dire rubbish, you are paid well to do this job.

Thought he's been left out the team because of his last minute blunder against Bolton.
Oh well I'm sure Mick will get over it!!

I hope AMN stays another year and sacks his Mum. Add in Dozzell/Benyu for 10-15 games each as skilful rookies, a fit Bishop, a fit, motivated McGoldrick, Emmanuel as a proper right back and one or two signings could it all be very exciting...?

nothing worse than a dreaded mum/dad on the touchlines who think they know more than the manager :) just go to any park at the weekend and when little johnny is left out the manager is this and that ....why dont they stay at home like they did in our day and let their kids enjoy the game without the pressure of their parents hollowing from the sides !
