Liverpool "Leading Dozzell Chase"
Tuesday, 12th Apr 2016 09:32

Liverpool are now reported to be leading the chase for Town youngster Andre Dozzell.

According to the Daily Mirror the Reds have already held talks with the Blues regarding the 16-year-old, who is also interesting Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham United.

The Mirror reports that the Blues would receive compensation of around £1.5 million if the England U17 international were to move on.

Academy scholar Dozzell, the son of former Town and Spurs midfielder Jason, has agreed a two-year professional deal with the Blues which will be formalised when he turns 17 on May 2nd.

Speaking to TWTD after links with Tottenham and Arsenal last month, father Jason said he believes Portman Road is the best place for his son, who featured for the U21s against Sheffield Wednesday last night, at this stage of his career, comments he reiterated on Saturday's Life's a Pitch on Radio Suffolk.

“Experience tells me that paper talk is paper talk,” he told TWTD. “There’s a big difference between someone having interest and putting a cheque on the table. As far as I’m concerned it’s nothing.”

He added: “Ipswich is the best place for him. He’s obviously been on the bench, he’s close, the manager likes him. His pathway at the moment is Ipswich Town.

“If he goes to a big club his pathway would be blocked, there will be a lot more players, a lot more better players, I would imagine.

“All you can ask for is to be close to the first team. I thought it would happen next year but it’s happening this year.

“I’m happy with the way he’s progressing, I’m happy with how they’re looking after him as a parent and that’s all you can ask for really."

This club has no future if it sells its young talented players, and bring in old players who have served their days and are just looking to retire here.Time for big changes regime out.

I guess we have to sell someone as has been the case for the past couple of years. Problem is nobody wants out left back this year!

If you had to sell Ming last year to balance books this means someone else is on the cards to go maybe Sears otherwise we'll be in trouble before we even start.

What would be the point in joining Liverpool, he would only be loaned out to lower league clubs and then forgotten about.

Keep the faith guys. Jason wants him to stay at Ipswich so he will. End of.

If this happens all involved at club should hang their heads in shame EXCEPT Acadamy Staff who continue to produce players of clear quality only to come up against a dinosaur of a manager who doesn't appear to want skifull, ball playing, home grown talent (Dam Ford another recent example - West Ham couldn't wait to snap him up) but rather lower league journeymen who "do a job" & conform to his brand of hoofball style.
What has gone wrong with our great club !!!!!

Need to remember the club has little control of this. They can offer him a contract but if he decides to go elsewhere while still part of the Academy then we just get compensation under the Academy rules. Rubbish if he goes and we only get 1.5M but not the club or MM's fault this time.
How can we blame MM for not playing a 16 year old? How many of us have actually seen him play, clearly got bags of potential but being ready now is something else.

See, hears the reality (for the realists like Phillo and Geoff ).

If Liverpool want him and the player is attracted to the bright lights there's nothing we can do about it. Liverpool pay us token compensation of about £1.5M and we all weep into our beer. IF as suggested MM started playing him in the 1st team my guess would be that this would just expedite the process as the kid gets too much too soon and thinks he's already in the big time and deserves a BIG move. For me, kids in football should be treated with a certain amount of patience and encouraged to keep their feet on the ground. I understand that perhaps Andre's parents are no longer together and don't agree on this. But like a lot of the opinions regularly voiced on here (Didzy's recent defence of the club and the manager being case in point) whose opinion holds more value? The ex-professional football player who still works in the game or the mum who has never been a professional football player and thinks she knows better?

Unfortunately this whole incident will be used conveniently as another stick to beat the manager with.

Evans business model, bring kids through to sell to other clubs. Football is dying.

As any successful business understands, perception is often stronger than truth: if your customers perceive you and your products and behaviours negatively, then your business suffers.

This season, compared to last, is a failure.

The football has been very poor to watch.

The investment in players has seen the squad grow in quantity but the quality has diminished.

To ask MM to continue to magic something from nothing, when the three relegated sides will have tens of millions available for their new season in the Championship, will be a doomed strategy.

If Andre Dozzell, a real gem, were to be allowed to leave, then the supporters of this club can draw only one conclusion: success through promotion to the Premier League, is not the No.1 priority of the owner, the chairman and board of Ipswich Town Football Club.

Mick Mcarthy is - arguably - wasting his time and reputation here.

After eight years as owner, Marcus Evans has some serious thinking and planning to do with his first line mangement team. The current strategy is not giving the ROI (return on investment) expected or required... It is broke... And it needs fixing!

No more tinkering at the edges, that only ensures mediocrity or further decline. A wholesale change to he approach is required... NOW, with MM being given the time to significantly revamp and recalibrate for next season.

We need about 6 million from player sales every year to break even. Sadly that is the reality and I can see Dozzell going in the Summer (with a loan back to us for 1 year). Other players, such as Mcgoldrick, Murphy and Smith are also likely to go. It's obvious that we need the funds and with two bad cup runs this year that hasn't helped.

It's possible MM might be able to agree a one year loan for a Liverpool youngster as part of the deal.

Does anyone here know what the prize money is for the championship positions this year?

Mick did insinuate earlier in the season he would give the kids a chance if we had nothing to play for. If we fail to beat Shef Wed on Saturday then that'll be the case (I know many of us already think that, but Mick won't yet)

If that happens then hopefully Mick will give youngsters like Andre chances in the first team, then Jason will see a future for him here and no matter what money Liverpool offer Jason will do what's best for Andre - and first team football here is better than Liverpool youths and loans

I could well be wrong but I think that his agent is the same one who represented Richard Wright when he moved onto Arsenal. So I'm going to guess that there has been phone calls made to the bigger clubs

I would guess that the number of young promising Football League players brought by big Premier League clubs and then spat out a few years later is a lot higher compared to players who have established themselves in the premier League.

Despite the hype and spin a single competitive game in the Football League (or at least the championship) is worth an entire season in an U21 match.

Listen to your Dad, Andre. Town is the place for you, and hopefully when you get a chance in the first team it won't just be watching the ball go over your head all the time...

Lets see - if we hold a Garage sale in May or put afew on gumtree - Coke , Toure , Digby , Tabb & Varney ( They would be in the 'different class section) , The Pole at the back ,Gerken ,
Douglas ( Fire sale) how close to £6m will we be !
I reckon £60k may get you that lot - so we are not far off
Joking apart - ME has no interest in football - we are the loss making part of his UK business arm - Also young creative midfielder starting out - who would you want to be managed and coached by ? A 57 year old ex defender who plays with one foot on the brake or a forward thinking manager who plays out from the back THROUGH the midfield and not OVER it ?

It's nice to see some players coming through - credit to Klug for getting the wheels going on the academy again. Hopefully one of many over the next few years.
