Former Town player and coach Paul Goddard says Town fans need to keep faith in their side as they fight to avoid relegation. He also says that his West Ham side are still not out of the woods yet and that Saturday is crucial for them.

Goddard left Portman Road earlier in the season to take up his position as first team coach under Glenn Roeder. He feels Saturday's game could help the Hammers confirm their survival: "This is a definite six-pointer and we need two good results to be sure of staying up ourselves.

"It's far more desperate for Ipswich I know, but we can still get sucked right down into the worst of the trouble.

"One thing is for sure, it's going to be an afternoon of mixed emotions for me as I had a great time with Town as a player and coach."

Goddard was working in the Town Academy until he left and feels that the set-up at Portman Road more than deserves Premeirship football: "The Portman Road ground, the Academy set-up and so many other things make it a Premiership club with a capital P. It would be a disaster for them if they went down.

"I genuinely feel they will hang on, but of course will be out to deny them a good result on Saturday."
