Morris Added to England U17s Squad
Monday, 2nd May 2016 12:10

Town striker Ben Morris has been added to the England U17s squad for the European Championships which get under way in Azerbaijan this week. Morris, who was one of three Blues academy players on standby, joins Andre Dozzell in the travelling party.

West Brom frontman Jonathan Leko was withdrawn from the squad over the weekend as the Baggies want him to gain further first-team experience during their remaining two Premier League games. The 17-year-old made his first senior start in Saturday's 3-0 home defeat to West Ham.

First-year scholar Morris, 16, has previously won six U17s caps and scored 21 goals for the Town U18s this season.

The England U17s play their first game against Sweden on Friday, then face France three days later, before they complete their group fixtures with a match against Denmark on Thursday 12th May.

Town keeper Nick Hayes and schoolboy midfielder Tristan Nydam remain on standby for the tournament.

Quite an achievement to have 2 players in england under17s. Morris considered an even better prospect than dozzell by some.

When does Morris turn 17 as this will be another piece of good news if he is signed on a 2 year deal.
