Pringle Linked With Rangers
Wednesday, 4th May 2016 10:41

Blues loanee Ben Pringle is reportedly a target of Rangers ahead of their return to the Scottish Premiership.

According to the Daily Express Pringle is considering the potential switch and will make a decision on his future after Town’s final game of the season at Derby on Saturday.

The 26-year-old has been on loan with the Blues from Fulham since February and has made nine starts and one sub appearance, scoring two goals.

Blues boss Mick McCarthy has made no comment on whether he plans to offer Pringle the chance to stay at Portman Road, however, the midfielder has either been an unused sub or left out of the 18 for the last three games for which he has been eligible.

Newcastle-born Pringle has another year left on the Cottagers contract he penned last summer after turning down a deal at Rotherham, but seems likely to move on having been out of manager Slavisa Jokanovic’s plans.

"Rangers boss Mark Warburton is understood to be a long-term admirer having previously tried to sign him during the summer of 2014 when in charge at Brentford.

Decent enough player but if we are going to step up a level we need better.
Be a good move for him.

Rangers is an opportunity too big to miss. They might agree a small fee with Fulham for his services -1 year left and all. He's been one of our better signings this season.

Has done well for us since coming in, but as a winger, he has no pace and if we really want to challenge realistically and maintain good performances, he isn't the player we need.

Having said that, I guess he isn't bad to have as backup if we do strengthen.

Rate the guy and didn't he score more in a handful of games than all 'our' midfield put together for the season?

Warburton will get the best out of him if he moves.

2 goals in 9 starts & seemed ok. Thought it a bit odd he then suddenly "disappeared" for last few games .... had thought he was injured.
Guessing this will happen as Mick obviously doesn't want him to stay which is fine if we are going to get better wingers ....
Cross fingers ...

It's obvious what Mick wants based on what exactly?

They must have been attracted by his crisp passing

The fact he would cost money, and is not played regularly by McCarthy, especially recently, makes me think he will be on his way to Scotland.

If Warburton wants him that speaks for itself. Looks good on the ball and tidy. Made a good impact. Why do we end up losing players like this and offering contracts to the lines of Douglas!!

Good player and scored a couple of goals. What's not too like . Need to build a squad to get out of this division and not happening at the moment .

Forgot to add no idea whatsoever why MM stopped playing him . Probably showed current midfielders up too much !

Quite a good player and scored a few goals, but lacked a bit of pace.Good cover but not a regular for me.I don't think MM will keep him.Wish him all the best if he does go though.!

Reminds me of David Norris. Decent at a smaller club, not so effective with us.
Severely lacking in pace, so that rules him out of being a winger unless you want him to be a Jay Tabb.
And I think we can do better in central midfield - Bishop. In fact, I'd persevere with Bru over him.

Not better than we already have. Go for exciting talent from lower leagues - Dack at Gillingham, Roofe at Oxford etc - and add that to the current squad . We have a host of good championship players - Skuse, Murphy,McGoldrick,Berra,Bart,Smith etc - add some float and youngsters such as Bishop,Dozzell, Kenlock, Emmanuel and it might even persuade me to renew the season ticket!!

........ if he's good enough for Warburton - he should fit the bill for us, within the right style of play of course.

Flash in the pan, not good enough for us but will probably do well in the Scottish Premier which is at best upper 1st Division level with two teams who could possibly survive Championship football.
