Town Trio Could Win Caps as England U17s Take on Spain Sunday, 15th May 2016 09:48 Town trio Andre Dozzell, Ben Morris and Nick Hayes could all win caps this afternoon when the England U17s take on Spain in their European Championships quarter-final in Baku, Azerbaijan (Eurosport Two, from 12.45pm). Midfielder Dozzell played very minute of England’s three group games, while striker Morris was a sub in the opening 2-1 defeat to Sweden but was in the XI which beat France 2-0 - when he scored the opening goal - and Denmark 3-1 as they finished second in their group.
Keeper Hayes, a late call-up as cover for an injury, is yet to feature and again seems set to be on the bench. Dozzell has previously won 15 U17s caps, scoring three goals, Morris nine, with the France goal his first for England, and Hayes three.
Elsewhere, on-loan Town centre-half Matt Clarke is considered a big doubt for Portsmouth’s League Two play-off semi-final second leg at Plymouth this afternoon (Sky Sports One, from 5.55pm). The 19-year-old only recently returned to training after a groin problem. Thursday’s entertaining first leg at Fratton Park ended in a 2-2 draw.
