Stevenage Date and Ticket Prices Set
Friday, 24th Jun 2016 15:27

Town have confirmed that the EFL Cup first round tie against League Two Stevenage at Portman Road will take place on Tuesday 9th August (KO 7.45pm).

Tickets will be £12 for adults, £8 for under-20s, over-60s and NUS card holders, and £3 for under-16s.

The sides met at the same stage of the competition last year, also at Portman Road, when the Blues ran out 2-1 winners with Josh Yorwerth and Jay Tabb netting for Town, and Boro replying via a Christophe Berra own goal.

Prior to that the teams also faced one another in the first round at Broadhall Way in August 2013 when the home side won 2-0 with Filipe Morais (pen) and Jordan Burrow on target.

Those two ties are the only occasions on which the teams have played one another competitively.

Meanwhile, the prices for the pre-season friendly against Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on Saturday 30th July have been set at £10 for adults, £8 for concessions and £1 for under-16s.

Reasonable but club do seem to have a mindset block preventing adults ever hitting £10

Lets hope our Manager takes cup games seriously for once, because they can add an additional revenue stream, which I thought would be right up ME's street.

Will certainly be giving this a miss. Would have done even at a fiver in fairness as travel on a Tuesday remains an due with work commitments. No interest in watching the reserves. Doesn't justify the cost.

No more cup games for me after last season. Loads of people had enough.

I will go to the Stevenage game, although not with any enthusiasm given the way cups are treated by clubs these days, meaning it is effectively a reserve game.

I will give the friendly a miss, not even paying £10 to see such a low profile opponent.

Won't pay £10 to see such a low profile opponent but pay £12 for Stevenage????

What a miserable bunch of sods! I get the arguments about travel etc, but really? complaining about it being £12 rather than £10! New season, new optimism - no we'll be moaning before a ball is even kicked!!

One day we may once more treat the cups with the respect they deserve - until then, not for me. Pompey (A) was the last straw.
