Tabb Training With Burton Albion
Tuesday, 12th Jul 2016 13:50

Released Blues midfielder Jay Tabb is training with Championship new boys Burton Albion.

Tabb, 32, left Portman Road at the end of last season after just over three years at Portman Road having initially joined on loan from Reading in March 2013.

The former Republic of Ireland U21 international made only four appearances during 2015/16, all in cup competitions, scoring once.

Speaking at the end of last season, manager Mick McCarthy paid tribute to Tabb: “He’s been fabulous, he’s one who without playing a [Championship] game all season could have won the ‘most selfless player award’ because he comes and trains every day.

“When he’s played in the cup games he’s played well, he trains well, he’s a prime example to any young player. He really is a fantastic character.”

In total, the one-time Brentford and Coventry man made 61 starts and 24 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring five goals.

Good luck Tabby! A cracking bloke, really genuine, a lot could take note of how he conducted himself off and on the pitch.

Burton will need some players with experience at this level, would not be a bad signing

He's fantastic is Tabby... hope it works out for him and he gets a deal there. He'd add a bit of experience to them too, as they compete at this level for the first time, they could do a lot worse than give him a contract. Never been anything less than 100% professional and ready to step in if called upon, despite his lack of league action last season, never heard him complaining or moaning to the EADT, just got on with it. A thoroughly nice bloke too.

Good luck Tabby. One of the most genuinely nicest people I've ever met. No ego about him whatsoever. Hope he succeeds wherever he goes!

Great, fantastic, Tabby! I am surprised he didn't get offered another year here. I think he's good enough for this level & hope he gets to prove it with Burton
