Youngsters Defeated at Hadleigh
Saturday, 23rd Jul 2016 20:00 by Paddy Lillistone

A young Town Academy XI lost 2-1 to Hadleigh United in the Kris Rose Testimonial at their Millfield ground this afternoon with first-year scholar Albert Wilton (pictured) netting the Blues’ goal.

Hadleigh opened the scoring after six minutes when Ben Golding took advantage of a mix-up in the Ipswich defence to roll the ball into an unguarded net.

A close-range header by Wilton levelled the score but, on the stroke of half-time, Elliott Ballard restored the United lead with a stunning shot.

Both sides toiled in the sweltering conditions, but although Town had the better of the second half, they could not find a way past the outstanding Sam Hunt in the Hadleigh goal.

I think it's the first time Hadleigh have won this fixture, so congratulations to them.

Good turnout of Ipswich Academy management , Bryan Klug , Alan Lee and Gerrard Nash .
A couple of Ipswich players to catch the eye were , a short midfielder ( think he was no. 8 ) who had a good pass in him and also the no. 10 who was a French trialist who looked good and had quick feet
