Trialist Lamah Starts Final Friendly
Saturday, 30th Jul 2016 14:34

Trialist Roland Lamah makes his second start for the Blues in this afternoon’s final pre-season friendly against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise at Portman Road (KO 3pm).

Free agent left winger Lamah previously impressed in Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at Charlton Athletic.

Also starting is summer addition Adam Webster at centre-half alongside Christophe Berra, while Daryl Murphy is partnered by Freddie Sears up front.

David McGoldrick is on the bench, while Brett Pitman (toe) and Luke Hyam (knee) miss out but are expected to be fit for next week's Championship opener against Barnsley. Keeper Dean Gerken is again not included, due to his hamstring injury.

Town: Bialkowski, Chambers (c), Webster, Berra, Knudsen, Skuse, Bru, Bishop, Lamah, Sears, Murphy. Subs: Crowe, T Smith, Emmanuel, Kenlock, Douglas, Digby, Malarczyk, McDonnell, Stewart, Dozzell, McLoughlin, McGoldrick.

RUSG: Sadin, Morren, Mpati Bibuangu, Cabeke, Vandiepenbeeck, Wallaert, Aguemon, Martens, Mombongo Dues, Rajsel, Massengo. Subs: Salah, Fixelles, Kaminiaris, Neels, Zitte, Palmeri, Saussez.

Get a chance to see what Lamah and webster are capable of before the season opener.

For Lamah it is now or never. A couple of changes here and there and this is the team that will start next week

And so Tommy Smith's career ends. Now that he has been tied down to a new long term contract he can be booted to the bench. Well done Mick!

Since MM has been at the club Tommy has been bar far the most consistent and reliable of the 3 centre halves and yet he is always the first to be dropped. Chambers is awful at right back... First name on the team sheet though. Berra was fantastic in 14/15 but he was shockingly bad at times in 15/16.

Mick will never change his favourites, and so the fortunes of the club will never change under his control. Same ideas, same players, same results!

Not sure why but I've a good feeling about Lamah, About time we had another winger to get us excited.
May also push Stewart to perform to get a look in.

No real quality on that bench. Spend some money, Evans. You are killing our chances.

We all hope Lamah will be an exciting addition because we are all desperate for something good to happen here to give us a lift for the new season which is just Severn days away now..

I don't mind that 11. When you think of the sh*t we had 3/5 years ago at times it's a solid team with sprinkles of quality. Got to believe we can challenge to make top 6 again.

Personally I couldn't less if we win 20-0 .... "EXCITE" :-) like never before under Dinosaur Mick .... and Lamah scores 15 of them and Stewart 5!!! This is a handpicked very feeble team, on paper incapable of putting up any sort quality "parrying", just to use some (fixed) boxing-bout terminology!
I'm certain that PART of the objective -- as it in general with soooo many of these pre-season games against notably weaker oppositions now "standard" during the MM years -- it's clearly to install a "false" (as in on a close to outrageous CHEAP background!) sort of confidence, buzz, and hype! around the whole team, as well as in Micks in his own words often more or less : "excellent" this...., "excellent" that, both old & new "favorites".
In other words -- and surely by some level of design imo -- it CONVENIENTLY helps immensely to not only keep overall criticism against the club at a minimum, but also particularly the MM skeptics mostly quiet and instead the "In Mick we (blindly) trust" brigade going ape, and it might even help to lure a some doubters to suddenly renew their season-tickets after all .... ALL PROVIDED we thrash all these lower level teams comfortably of course! Which oooops!!!! so far we haven't! lol

I find it unbelievable that the club is playing a trialist when we could use this opportunity to give one of our young players game time.... I cannot fathom the logic unless the friendly has been arranged to allow a Belgian club to take a look at a Belgian player in opposition.

I suspect they are playing us a paltry sum to take a closer look at him.

Hard to judge this trialst because we simply haven't passed to him that much. But when he has had the ball he's very quick with it and looks to get forwards. Hasn't given it away. Bishop class. Chances made but once again powder puff in front of goal.

Very good pass and move football from Town. just need to sharpen up in front of goal. Webster unflappable. Defence to date unknown troubled.

Pre-season is about getting players through fit. Yes I'd like to see Tommy in at cb with Webster but it is a friendly there's no point judging the starting 11 today, judge it on how well we play in the weeks to come!

The moaners would be the first to complain if mcgoldrick started this game and got injured or dozzel or anyone for that matter! Micks having a look at some players that's the point of these friendlies it could be different next week!
