U18s Lose Second Game in Holland
Tuesday, 9th Aug 2016 14:55

Town’s U18s lost 1-0 to AZ Alkmaar’s U19s in the second game of their Holland trip this afternoon. The Dutch side - the Blues' 1981 UEFA Cup final opponents - netted the only goal shortly after the break.

On Saturday, the Town youngsters were beaten 3-2 by ADO Den Haag in their opening fixture.

ADO, who have been hosting the Blues squad for the last week or so, were 3-0 up before Albert Wilton (pictured) netted a penalty and Travis Cole added a second with a header.

The trip has been organised by League Football Education (LFE), while youngsters from Accrington Stanley, Blackpool, Blackburn Rovers and Shrewsbury Town have also travelled across the North Sea to spend time with Dutch clubs.

Subsidised by the Erasmus+ fund, the LFE say the aim of the trip is to “promote development and the exchange of ideas between coaches and players in both countries”.

While in Holland the Town squad has taken part in training sessions run by ADO Den Haag coaches, have spent time in Amsterdam and also travelled to Rotterdam to watch Ajax beat Sparta 3-1.
