Coke Returns to Action for U23s
Friday, 9th Sep 2016 10:20

Midfielder Giles Coke will return to action when the U23s take on Barnsley at Oakwell this afternoon (KO 1pm, free entry).

The 30-year-old, who manager Mick McCarthy has made available for transfer, has been sidelined since February and underwent knee surgery towards the end of last season.

Also involved against the Tykes will be Andre Dozzell, Adam McDonnell, Michael Crowe, Ben Morris and Shane McLoughlin, who scored what ultimately proved to be the winning goal in Monday’s 2-1 home victory over Millwall, the U23 side’s first three points of the season.

Might be best not to rush him back in case of any further complications with the injury... I would recommend he just rests up... perhaps until around May time?

Our fault for giving the lad a two year deal, congratulations to his agent for brokering such a deal . He may have been worth a go as backup to Skuse on a one year contract, not two. How the hell he's got a two year deal, along with Ellington is a mystery to me. Prefer the likes of Best on a short-term deal to prove his worth, absolutely nothing wrong with a gamble like that.

I would like to know just how promising Adam McDonnel is? Supposedly a player in there.

He's available for transfer, but the window is shut, so not much point really.

Coke really is an extremely poor player.

One of the worst players I've seen in an ITFC shirt, Graham Harbrey was quicker and more skilful, Karic, Ulrich Le Pen all had much more to their game.

There's a surprise nobody wanted him in the transfer window...

We need to let him be. He was offered for free to other clubs but looks like he's here to stay ;No use having a pop at him as he's an Ipswich player. His confidence is already rock-bottom anyway from his stints at all his other clubs. MM sometimes signs gems but like all managers he makes mistakes. Does make me wonder what Mick was thinking though when he signed him. He had an OK game at Man Utd when we lost 3-0 (to be fair he only made 5 or 6 mistakes that game) and that's how I'll remember him. I hope he has a decent season this year and maybe if we are lucky he'll get us an assist at some point. Luck has got to alter for him as he hasn't got a goal or assist since 2011 for Bury. That's understandably a record he wants to break.

I feel sorry for him!

It is not his fault that the club signed him and gave him a two year contract, and he has managed to make a living out of the game so far.

I will admit that not seeing him too much as injury has curtailed appearances recently, but recall he has made more appearances probably than Stewart or Malarcyzk did.

Like most have not been impressed thus far;but hope he has a good game today, and remains injury free in the future.
