Webster and Sears Return at Blackburn
Saturday, 15th Oct 2016 14:22

Adam Webster and Freddie Sears return to the Town side facing Blackburn this afternoon with Josh Emmanuel and Kevin Bru dropping to the bench, alongside Jonny Williams and Teddy Bishop.

Webster, who has been out with a hamstring injury, will take up his usual right-sided central defensive role with skipper Luke Chambers moving back to right-back as Town look to end a four-game win and goalless run.

The Blues look set to line-up in a 4-4-2 formation with Sears, who is without a goal in 37 games, joining ex-Rover Leon Best up front. Tom Lawrence , a former Blackburn loanee, is likely to be on the left with Grant Ward on the right.

Williams is among the subs for the first time since his return for a fourth loan spell having recovered from the ankle injury he suffered in pre-season with Crystal Palace.

Bishop is included in the 18 despite breaking his nose for the second time in a month in training on Thursday. Ex-Blues loanee Liam Feeney is on the bench for the home side.

Blackburn: Blackburn: Steele, Marshall, D Williams, Greer, Hoban, Guthrie, Evans, Conway (c), Samuelsen, Gallagher, Emnes. Subs: Raya, Feeney, Stokes, Mulgrew, Akpan, Lenihan, Bennett.

Town: Bialkowski, Chambers (c), Webster, Berra, Knudsen, Skuse, Douglas, Lawrence, Ward, Sears, Best. Subs: Gerken, Emmanuel, Kenlock, Grant, Bru, Bishop, J Williams. Referee: Geoff Eltringham (County Durham).

Samuelsen starting for blackburn, surely him to score is worth a tenner?

Not too bad and a decent looking bench to call on.

That's done it for me, I have supported him through gritted teeth up until now, but that's a horrendous decision.... I'm now in the out camp ! Thanks for stabilising us Mick but I can't see us going anywhere with you in charge 😔

Skuse again and Douglas again? Can't help but laugh now, it's a joke and I''m actually losing interest in Ipswich!

Shock, our manager is a stubborn outdated b***end. Think we're reaching a dangerous point right now where our fans are almost on the verge of not caring anymore.

Lets hope its not Samuelson vs Chambers otherwise we could be in trouble.
Feel for Emmanuel!

Emmanuel shouldn't have been dropped. Bru on the other hand is a good decision. However, Skuse/Douglas continue! But we should have more than enough to grind out a win at Blackburn.

We can win this 0-0. Good one Mick. The LAST FEW supporters you had backing you will now finally see what an utter dinosaur pr1ck you are. To drop Josh in favour of your carthorse bum chum chambers is a joke. To continue to pick skuglas as the midfield creators is a joke. YOU ARE A FECKING JOKE !!!!!!

Get lost you idiot.

Here's hoping for a miracle coz they're a good side Blackburn with good players. Any away point is a good point. W&nker.

I think carsey/simonds92/iantaylorx and trulyblue have just said what most of us are thinking. Not going to game and don't think will even bother to watch ss news.

While it's a shame Josh has been dropped, lets be clear defensively we've been very good all over irrespective of which of Berra/ Smith / Webster / Knudsen / Chambers / Emmanuel have played so I'm not going to moan one way or the other. Defensively I'm quite happy with us.

However, going forward I am not. Sears has been pants this season, worse than Chambers in terms of performances in his position and he really must put in a much better performance today.

No striker on the bench is alarming at best considering Leon is only just nearing full fitness. Ridiculous.

At least Bru isn't in the line up. Relief.

Very happy to have Williams and Bishop nearing fitness. They are very important to us having any remote hope of achieving this season.

By hook or crook we need three points today. COYB.

Emmanuel doesn't deserve to be dropped. The Skuse/Douglas partnership doesn't work at the best of times but I fear for us on a big pitch like Ewood Park with such a lack of legs in the middle.

Good post Currie thoughtful and not knee jerk hysteria like some posters.

What has Josh done wrong!? Two upfront is pointless without any creativity in the centre.

Dear me...Chambers back to right back, the midfield looks better but still with the ol' faithful of Skuse/Douglas in the centre is still a bit worrying. Interesting to see how the Sears/Best combo gets on upfront with Sears hopefully playing more central (that is until Mick reverts to 4-5-1 OR 4-3-3).

Do you know prebbs that anything you do say of merit is hidden in the barely coherent, offensive language you use? As in the past I have no doubt you will call me an idiot and tell me to get lost.

FFS MM have you got dementia?
Same old favourites!
Same negative dross!
What message does that send out to Josh....your not as good as the pish-poor right-back we've got in your place today!
Get the frig out of our club you boring-predictable dinosaur!

Currie10, you are happy with the defense but not the attack. I have news for you, its because defend is all we do! Dropping Josh in favour if Chambers is no surprise but still a disgusting decision.

MM is losing his last remaining supporters!
