McCarthy and Milne at Supporters Club Meet the Club Evening and AGM Tonight
Thursday, 27th Oct 2016 10:00

This season's Supporters Club AGM, which takes place tonight in Legends Bar, once again takes the form of an open evening with fans having a chance to meet and question management representing many areas of the club, both off-field and on-field, among them boss Mick McCarthy and managing director Ian Milne.

In addition to McCarthy and Milne, the guests will also include finance director Mark Andrews, club secretary and supporter liaison officer Sally Webb, director of sales Rosie Richardson, media manager Steve Pearce and Matthew Nicholson from Centerplate, the company responsible for Town's outsourced catering.

The evening will give fans an opportunity to ask about their roles and raise any questions they may have.

The event starts at 7.30pm and will also include the formal business of the Supporters Club AGM.

Evidence of membership of the Supporters Club - season tickets, Silver, Ambassador or Junior Blues membership cards - must be provided at the door.

For further information, email officialitsc@btinternet.com or call 07968 876504.

TWTD will be covering the AGM live on the forum.

Race to the bottom by teams in positions 17 to 23 is quickly becoming a certainty. I hope the dire situation we are in will be brought to the attention a Mr McCarty this evening!

I would like to go but am working though I understand from past posts that it is mainly a sycophants meeting.
if anyone feels inclined they could ask
1. Why does McCarthy make team selections on favouritism rather than ability/out of position and concentrate on negative scraps rather than going out to play football and win?
2. Why does he persistently play the worst right back in the league (we know the answer but it doesn't hurt to ask)
3. Does he realise that at every club he has managed the fans could not wait to see the back of him? This is now true at Town.
4. and so on.

Milne - what exactly do you do? You appear to be a puppet for our invisible owner and are unable to take McCarthy to task.

These questions are asked by a long suffering season ticket holder at £500+ per year sick of the 'football' on offer. For the record I have written to Milne directly with these questions but never receive a satisfactory answer.

Have a good night

A few questions:

Are we intending to sign a replacement for Murphy in January?
Why did we not sign Lamah and Foley in the Summer (especially given Foley's outstanding performances for us last season and now at Charlton)- played 10 matches for them and awarded MOM four times out of those 10. One of the best passers I have seen in over 5 years at this club.
Are we intending to get Coke out on-loan?
Why do we get beaten so often in wage battles with teams like Blackburn, Bolton, Rotherham etc?
What is our AIM now for this season?

That would be a start.

MM: "look at where we were 4 years ago. The fans have got nothing to moan about. Marcus and Ian have always supported me with getting players in, but there isn't anyone on planet earth who is better than the players I have, dougie, skusey, coley, bruey and crazie. There all different class".

IM: "look at where we were 4 years ago. Micks done a fantastic job. We will never ever question his decisions. Mick is different class".

They end the meeting with a big snog.....

It probably wouldnt hurt to ask MM to define exactly the qualities that make Douglas different class. To me Douglas appears to be the worst midfielder we've had since coming back to this division and I would imagine the noticeable stats of assists/goals scored/tackles won/loose balls picked up would probably back this up...but then I'm not a football manager or coach and therefore may have missed something important.

So, I wonder how many of the twtd compulsive whingers on here will be making the meeting tonight to "air their stringly held views"? None I suspect.

I have been regularly in the past, but I cannot see any point in turning up when you know that they are just going to tow the party line.
ArnieM, do you seriously think that this would be a forum where any of the grievances would be addressed? Do you have confidence in the current regime?

Just ask 1 question for me, when are the negative hoofball tactics going to end like he promised 4 years ago.

mm is the manager and like it or not he will do things his way.
Come to think of it has any manger ever accepted he is wrong and change things to suit the fans?.
this must be one of the most boring get togethers in a long time.

It all comes back to unrealistic expectations. Those thinking we are aiming for a top 6 spot this season are living in cloud cuckoo land. I have low expectations. I just want to see us score a goal. Any goal. And obviously avoid League 1.

I agree with ArnieM. Too much whinging. We aren't like Blackpool or Portmouth and we should be grateful to MM for that. It's not great that Norwich are doing so well and have turned into the yoyo club that we should have become but mistakes were made, Keane and then Jewell. But MCCarthy isn't a mistake. He's doing the best with what he's got. Don't get me wrong, I've watched 18 games with us not scoring a goal and that's dull. But things could be way worse. We are 5 points off the relegation places and should make that 8 next game.

Every manager makes mistakes but we keep highlighting those and not the good he has done. Nearly all our squad are frees, loans or cost under 500,000. He does make the odd insane signing (Coke and Toure et al, 2015) but more often than not he signs players who are better than their worth. Webster and Knudsen both look better than the money that was paid for them and on his day Grant Ward is a very capable player. As for those bashing Douglas, seriously, we have much worse players in the wings. In that clip from Newcastle he actually clearly wanted the ball, which cannot be said for our midfielders against Portsmouth last season. He runs around, puts in effort and stays concentrated, unlike some others.

I know it's frustrating but he's doing the best he can with what he's got. I fear that a new manager will try to change our style of play and that could lead to serious trouble. Others have said about our pre-season passing and 1-touch football. Pretty but proved ineffective. We don't have those passing players in the team. We do obviously need a right back and a big striker, but for whatever reason the money's not there. I was hoping we would go for Odemwingie whose always been good in that role, but obviously not meant to be.

3 points against Rotherham and we will all feel a bit better. I don't think we are going anywhere this season, but my interest is in Norwich now. I hope they get 3rd and lose the play offs. The longer they stay here, the better. 3 seasons and they'll lose those parachute payments.

Our football club as a whole has become so stagnant and dull I'm almost starting to miss the days of Clegg and the Dark Lord!

...almost.

Guys. To put a question to the panel you have to submit your questions in advance. They are vetted and only those that the club accept get to be asked. So no point just turning up and hoping to ask anything. It wont happen

PJewellisaGod - Blackburn had Rhodes on over £50,000 pw there so sadly they spend dumb ££££ on wages and have got what they deserve.

Anyone who does go I'll be interested about Milne banging on about FFP, the academy and the dream of having 8 of the 18 man squad from the academy in the next 4/5 years and the big boys moving the goalposts bla bla bla.

I'm not sure if this is brave, arrogant or stupid of McCarthy. Then again, will the fans actually take these two to task this evening? I fear not. It's not good enough at the moment - the investment from the owner is poor, the management of the first team is poor, the progression of academy players to the first team is poor, the brand of football is poor, the coaching is poor, the match-day pricing is poor, the ambition of the club is poor.

"pre season passing and 1 touch football .Pretty but proved ineffective " as compared to the effectiveness of hoofball stop the opposition at all costs only scored in 1 of last 8 games ?
You cannot keep saying he is doing the best with what he has got when it is him that has assembled what he has got . Parr and Foley were better full backs than what we have at the club now , Josh is currently better than Chambo at right back .
Why did it take MM a highly paid manager to see that Bart was clearly a better keeper than Gerks and instilled more confidence in the players in front of him ?
Why does he persist in playing 2 holding defensive midfielders that he has done for three years at home games .
Why say everyone has to take a chance when they are given one and then drop the youngsters even if they play well Josh , Dozzell, Bishop ? Where is the incentive to the fringe players or to the 1st team who know they are untouchable
Why did he take an inform striker signed from a lower league with something to prove and play him out of position till his non goal scoring record became a big issue
Why do the majority of players come here start well and then their form goes , where is the coaching making them better players .
I think with the players at the club we are under achieving rather than doing the best we can due to selection , style but most of all tactics

Why do people on here keep saying Mick is "doing the best with what he's got"? No he isn't and the team selection based on the full squad backs this up 100%.

Guessblue added 13:33 - Oct 27
Ok, my questions

1) Mick, why is it that in your time here, our young players like Bishop, Emmanuel and Dozzell don't get a prolonged run in the first team, even when they play well. Who else from our youth team do you plan to play this season?

2) Mick, why did you spend 700,000 on a center half when that was not a posistion of need. Why not use that money for a striker? What did u gain from trading a promising young CB and 700,000 for another promising but unproven CB?

3) Mick, don't you get that football is meant to be a form of entertainment? Can you see that fans are voting with their feet?

4) Mick, why did you let Murphy leave without a replacement in the bag?

5) Milne, why did Marcus buy a football club if he didn't want to invest in it. You have to Speculate to accumulate.

Question for Mick. What was your target for this season? And what will happen if you don't meet it? Or question for Milne. Do you set Mick concrete targets each season? If so what are they? In essence, what sort of accountability does Mick have to the board if he falls well short?

I believe pre-season Mick said the target was to try and finish 6th. It's looking highly unlikely at present so if we fall well short, what next? Do we just carry on with more of the same uninspiring football which is causing the gates to drop like a stone, or do we look elsewhere for somebody else with some fresh and modern ideas?
