Saturday, 12th Nov 2016 09:08

Town youngster Monty Patterson came on as a 60th minute sub as New Zealand beat New Caledonia 2-0 in a World Cup qualifier in Auckland overnight.

Melbourne Victory man Marco Rojas scored in the 42nd and 72nd minutes for the All Whites.

Patterson, 19, who is currently on loan with Vanarama National League side Braintree Town, was winning his eighth cap and came close to adding to his one international goal when he headed over late on.

Former Town loanee Chris Wood skippered the All Whites, who take on New Caledonia in another World Cup qualifier in Koné on Tuesday.
