Blues Reportedly Eyeing Portsmouth Striker
Thursday, 17th Nov 2016 15:15

Town are one of a number of clubs reportedly keeping an eye on Portsmouth striker Conor Chaplin.

According to The Sun, Bournemouth are keen on making a January move for the 19-year-old Worthing-born frontman, while the Blues, Fulham and QPR have sent representatives to watch the 5ft 6in tall Pompey academy product.

Chaplin, who scored against Town in last season’s FA Cup tie at Portman Road after coming on as a sub, has netted five times this term.

Town scouts were regulars at Fratton Park last season to keep tabs on Matt Clarke, who was on loan with Portsmouth before joining them in the summer, and Adam Webster, who signed for the Blues in the same deal.

I called this a while ago, can I be a scout for Ipswich yet?

went to watch Portsmouth last week when they beat Mansfield 4-0. the lad looked very lively. Plenty of hype about him in this part of the world. They are very fond of him.

Would love to see him in a town shirt

The day Franny Jeffers signed on loan I was ecstatic. I called it months before. On my top 3 TWTD moments.

Seems a nice tidy player from what I have seen. But not trying to spoil to party, with Mick's hoof ball approach, how will a 5"6 striker win those long balls?

No sign of hoof ball against Sheff Wed.
in the first half we tried to play too much football.

Perhaps he will come with his manager!

If we were to get him, and he turned out to be as good a signing as the last guy we got from Portsmouth, would be very very happy. Hopefully it happens. He'd have more chances to play with us than he would at Bournemouth.

Is this 'eyeing' of players just to try and keep the fans happy? Who was the last player we signed- not a loan - of quality whom other Clubs were also chasing, apart from Webster I've give them that one...

If there are six club scouts looking through the shop window, then we're usually number six trying to look over their shoulders......counting our 2p's!

Another good striker would be Taylor of Brizzle Rovers, knows where the back of the net is

Grant Ward apparently had a handful of clubs eyeing him, Strikalite.

blues1 2 games we have tried to play football. 2 games. And that was simply down to the fact Mick had nowhere to go. He had to pick the footballing players and without Best in the team ws couldnt lump it. But i dont belive for a minute this was his plan all along. He was feeling the pressure and was desperate otherwise we'd still be lumping it and Douglas would still be in the team.

Much less hoofball against Rotherham and Wednesday. If he has a good friendship with Webster it may work for us in his decision.

Looks a promising player but the link does come from the Sun, so I wonder how interested we really are. I'm more intrigued to see who the new target man will be to replace Daryl Murphy?
