Dozzell, Benyu and McDonnell in U23s Facing Palace
Monday, 21st Nov 2016 11:28

Andre Dozzell, Kundai Benyu and Adam McDonnell are set to feature for the Blues’ U23s against Crystal Palace at Playford Road this afternoon (KO 1pm).

Dozzell, 17, is back in Gerard Nash’s team having missed last week’s 4-2 defeat to Charlton - in which Benyu scored an excellent freekick, see below - as he was away with the England U18s squad.

Also involved are James Blanchfield, who is back having been suspended for last week's match, Shane McLoughlin and Ben Morris.

U23s: Wright, Woolfenden, Webber, Benyu, Fowler, C Smith (c), McDonnell, Blanchfield, Morris, McLoughlin, Dozzell. Subs: Hayes, McKendry, Salaudeen, Folami, Downes.

Surely Benyu or Dozzell should be given a chance ahead of Bishop at the moment?

Great chance to push your way into the first team what with the non performance of so many on Saturday, but will Mick ever drop Skuse??

Sadly, of course he won't drop Skuse, '...he's a Premiership player'.

Chambers , berra , knudesen , skuse , bishop , ward , sears . All those places should be up for grabs and if they are not we have to ask WHY?

Dear Mick.

Please can you grow some balls and just start with these kids in the starting 11. Least if we do lose they will have a good fight. I can handle that. Apart from Bart we can field and entirely home grown team near enough. Itll take a brave man to do this but what can we lose. Cant be any worse than Saturday. In all fairness my 5 year old can defend better than that on Saturday.
Kind Regards

why is skuse so often a scapegoat? he saved the defence more than once at the weekend and was highlighted by sky who at least recognised him! Bishop was really poor however, Williams showed how poor when he came on and played ok, but sooo much better than Bishop. Sears poor guy has forgotten who he is with being played out of position so long, ditto chambers, and Ward joined as a great attaking player and has lost his spark as he is forced to be more defensive. Whilst I agree 'Dougie' is an awful player I think Skuse is unfairly given the role of scapegoat too often.

Bishop seems he is loving all the fame on social media at the minute, along with Harry Wright.
Get your head down Bish and show you're fit enough to play for Ipswich and sort it out!! Think the money has got to the lads head, seeing he has just bought a flush new Range Rover Sport in matte black.

As an experienced professional Skuse should be doing more to influence games - he hides too much . How many killer passes or tough tackles does he manage . OK you could argue he doesn't do too much wrong ( although he was involved in the 2nd goal fiasco) , but he should be doing more , rather than being just a steady Eddie .

Bishop had a bad game Saturday and was rightly taken off but anyone who thinks Skuse played well is so far off the mark . He is always to far from the man he is marking , doesn't win second balls and offers little protection to the centre backs or the attacking midfielder who plays alongside him , in this case Bishop who then has to do more defensive work and looks poor as it is not his game . That is why MM picks 2 defensive minded centre midfielders for the majority of his time in charge because Skuse isn't good enough to do it on his own . He is bound to break up a couple of plays because he is cheating by not actually marking or going with runners , it is school boy defending . Skuse completely sums up the Town side at present , drifting through games hiding but not really affecting them completely average , until we get a dominant ball winner nothing will change
