Town Ball 20 in Tonight's FA Cup Draw
Monday, 5th Dec 2016 09:58

Town will be ball number 20 in the draw for the third round of the Emirates FA Cup, which takes place this evening at 7.10pm live on BBC2 and BT Sport.

Steven Gerrard and Ian Wright will be the men charged with picking out the ties at the BT Tower during BT Sport’s coverage of the Oldham Athletic-Lincoln City second round tie. Third round matches will be played between January 6th and 9th.

Last season the Blues were beaten at the third round stage by League Two Portsmouth - featuring Adam Webster - after a replay.

Boss Mick McCarthy is yet to win an FA Cup tie as Blues manager. Town's last FA Cup win was the 2-1 victory at Blackpool at the third round stage in January 2010 under Roy Keane’s management.

I really couldn't care less, I went to Portsmouth away last year and witnesses how much MM cared about that night, and remember how embarrassing it was to lose that night. So I really don't care, because we all know that we'll lose to another team below us because Mick cant be bothered to play a proper team.

I can see it now Norwich at home, full house, loads of atmosphere and we'll play what MM says is his best team eg usual favourites in. They'll send most of there second string and still stuff us. Anyway we have a relegation fight to contend with!!!!

No point getting excited even if we draw Arsenal away or any big teams because Mick won't give it a go. FA Cup used to be magic but too many managers don't care now. Use fans do though!!

MICK OUT!!!!

Used to be one of the highlights of the season, now thanks to Mick playing the reserves it is just a waste of time.

Mick disrespects the FA Cup as much as 99% of the fans seem to be disrespecting his general tactics, team selections and overall attitude (and with good reason). Note we had a great Cup run in the League Cup before Mick showed up (we were 30 mins away from Wembley!), and what since!!??? Mick couldn't give a toss if we got done by a team of minnows provided we keep a clean sheet for a nil nil in our next league match! His priorities are all back to front. To say I've lost all confidence in the man is an understatement of prodigious proportions!
Anybody with half a brain can tell if a team is equipped for promotion simply by analysing the statistics of the players. That is to say, how many goals have the players scored in previous seasons from midfield and up front. All teams that go up hit certain numbers. There is a general pattern. Mick wouldn't even bother to look at such numbers. He thinks he knows better but how can he defy the numbers, the numbers don't lie!
If you start the season with players that have never come close to the numbers needed you are asking the impossible for them to suddenly step up and start hitting the necessary numbers. If the players don't hit the numbers or show no evidence or form to suggest they might start to, ship them out and replace them with players that can, it's as simple as that! If you look at our numbers and compare them to other teams that have gone up before us, they simply don't stack up. First catastrophic failure, not enough goals from midfield, second catastrophic failure, nowhere near enough goals up top. Yes we're tight at the back but it comes at the expense of no goals the other end. 1 without the other means you're going nowhere fast! I could collate a spreadhsheet in August telling Marcus Evans if our squad had any chance of going up based on past form. You'd think a businessman would get such a thing, but know, he continues to back a dinosaur who probably doesn't even know how to turn on a computer, let alone analyse some tell tale stats. Other teams are crunching the numbers, we don't seem to be at all. And so we fall further behind with this monolithic manager who doesn't move with the times whatsoever. MICK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yawn!...what's the point, McCarthy is about as much use to Cup competitions with Town as T*ts are on a nun.

Still look forward to the draw, but dont know why with this t0$$er in charge, never gives it a go, absolute idi0t.
Most managers under pressure would be compelled to try and win a game, any game but he knows he is under no pressure and going nowhere. Nobody at the club gives a t0$$ anymore, thats why I have found alternative forms of entertainment for my saturday afternoons.

Thanks Mick...

From a selfish pov I'd take a Lancs/Yorks away tie but we'll end up with Birmingham away or something uninspiring.

This is as exciting as the FA Cup gets for Town - the ball coming out in the third round draw. (And at least that ball is fairly accurate, travels a short distance, and doesn't spend much time in the air.)

Your initial, innocent, child-like instinct kicks in as you immediately weigh up the chances of whether we can beat the drawn team and progress...but then you remember our manager is Mick McCarthy, and everything becomes utterly irrelevant.

I find it very very sad that mick has killed the buzz of the cup that i used to feel, i can't believe it but i'm loseing my love for my boyhood team thanks to mick & evans milton and the other hangers on who don't care about ITFC just what they can gain.
