Apparently Chris Porter is moving on in January, though they didn't get to see him play. Best defender there is "The Atom" Eastman, best midfielder Owen Garvan.

Owen Garven would better than skuse or Douglas, used to like him when he was here, playmaker we need. Maybe we can do a swap for skuse! :)

Garvan seems likely target but hard to say, used to like him when he was here and knows how to pass the ball. Perhaps a fee plus Giles Coke, who needs a new start to his career? McDonnell on loan could tempt them also. We were previously linked a long time ago with Frankie Kent so another possibility. Porter scored a fair few goals last season and plays the Murphy role. Unlikely Eastman will return. Fosu also possible as his Reading days seem numbered.

Went to the Col U game yesterday. Garvan played well, and, unsurprisingly, much of the play went through him.

Although Porter didn't play yesterday, I've seen him on quite a few occasions. IMO, he would not be a standout performer in The Championship; certainly no better than Leon Best.

Eastman does OK for Colchester, but, again, I don't think he'd improve us.

Kent would be a decent shout. Played well yesterday.

I'd welcome Garvan back with open arms. He was very good for us on his day (remember when we beat Norwich at Carrot Road and he passed them off the park) and he only lost his way under the Dark Lord! When he was playing well for us I think I remember him being linked with Everton. Come back OG!!!

OG has far more natural talent than Skuse. Hard to understand how one has ended up playing down the road in a lower league while the other is a regular starter in the Champions**t. Where did it all go wrong for OG? Keane perhaps! Would love to see him given a second chance here. I haven't seen him play for a long time so I'm not sure if he is still as good as he once was, but even if anywhere near as good as he was when we beat Norwich, somebody should send a taxi down to pick him up this side of Xmas ready for Jan! :-)

Must realise that Col U are now plying their trade in Div2 where the standards are considerably lower than the Championship, and several of the Ipswich rejects are in the lower leagues.

Anthony Wordsworth looked good at Colchester, and we paid money for him, just like Freddie;but he is now with Southend.Similarly Marriott who is now banging them in for Luton.

We did have Owen Garvan training AT Playford Rd as far back as July 2014 along with Leroy Lita,Kevin Bru, Balint Bajner, and Freddie Veseli;but neither Garvan or Lita were taken on,Bajner and Veseli were but are no longer here;and only Kevin Bru remains.

Must not forget also that like Woody,Garv is a bit injury prone.

Just saying.

Might even have been keeping an eye on Jon Stead who I believe plays for the Magpies.

Understand County are strapped for cash,so would get him on the cheap;which seems to be the Ipswich way these days.

Why would Garvan want to come here and watch the ball sail over his head

I know we do still hoof the ball sometimes, but we have been playing more passing and crossing football this season- particularly due to Lawrence and Ward. Garvan is a great passer and offers much more going forward than Skuse or Douglas, plus he's a lot younger.

You might be right about Jon Stead: He's scored a fair few recently and is a target man. But we do seem to be targeting Colchester games which makes Chris Porter more likely. Personally think it is Garvan, he might have developed much more than expected, and should be playing at a higher level.

Come on people Porter's not even as good as Leon Best and as for Garvan I looked him up in the dictionary and definition is sick note ! We were probably looking for up and coming like Guthrie but think at this moment in time we need quality and experience to get us out the hole MM and TC have dug!

Steady had a reasonable scoring rate while here but am hoping it is Garvin that is being considered. Less said about the dark days Garvin Rhodes and Supple departed the better
