Douglas Replaces Williams in Otherwise Unchanged Team
Monday, 26th Dec 2016 14:13

Jonathan Douglas replaces the injured Jonny Williams in an otherwise unchanged Town team facing Fulham at Portman Road.

Andre Dozzell keeps his place in a three-man midfield and makes his first home Championship appearance of the season. Leon Best is back on the bench with no place in the 18 for Luke Varney.

Town: Bialkowski, Chambers (c), Berra, Knudsen, Webster, Skuse, Dozzell, Douglas, Sears, Lawrence, Pitman. Subs: Gerken, Best, McGoldrick, Bru, Ward, Emmanuel, Kenlock.

Fulham: Button, Odoi, Ream, Madl, Malone, McDonald, Cairney (c), Ayite, Johansen, Aluko, Martin. Subs: Bettinelli, Fredericks, Kebano, Parker, Smith, Sigurdsson, Piazon.

I just don't get it. Ok so he loses JW but having seen what contribution Ward and Mcg made why pick Douglas for a home game!
Please Dozzy has kept his place and hope he has good game but otherwise MM is back to picking a team not to lose.

Is Varney injured? Only reasonable reason for having him miss out in place of Best!

Really pleased to see Dozzel getting more minutes....one of our brightest prospects ....Varney...if not injured maybe not being offered a contract extension in JAN in order to release funds for incoming players?? ....I would say I don't understand Douglas getting the nod infront of our top scorer but long since given up trying to work MM out.....hope the guy that was in front of us at Wigan loves this selection......cos who else would you have #sigh

The good news is Dozzell starts and there is finally no sign of Varney who although he is a great lad, isn't the future.

The bad news is we have the most negative central midfield on the country starting at home. Whilst Knudsen starts ahead of the excellent Kenlock.

Luckily our record against Fulham is excellent and it's unlikely they will win.

Glad I worked instead then. I think next season I will just go to the game on the strength of 2pm team sheet . But if it's going this way it looks like I will be spending the £25 on beer instead lol

And just to rub it in chase me chase me Douglas is in the line up twice. I'm sure the Dino would play him twice if he could.

Not all bad we are ahead on fouls, McCarthy's inherited philosophy from Jack Charlton "see how fast the other team can limp".

If you want to know what's wrong with this team try watching different class Douglas movements for 5 mins
