Town Linked With Grigg Bid and Aberdeen Defender
Sunday, 8th Jan 2017 12:17

Town are reported to be ready to make a move for Wigan’s Northern Irish international striker Will Grigg and are also said to be keen on Aberdeen right-back Shay Logan.

According to The Sun on Sunday the Blues are keen on Grigg and are set to make an offer for the 25-year-old, who is contracted to the Latics until the summer of 2018.

Solihull-born Grigg was with the youth set-ups at Birmingham City and Solihull Moors before playing non-league senior football for Stratford Town.

The 5ft 11in tall striker broke into the Football League when Walsall signed him in 2008, before moving on to Brentford in 2013 and then, after a loan spell with the MK Dons in the 2014/15 season, Wigan in the summer of 2015 for fee reported to be £900,000.

The eight-times-capped Northern Ireland international scored 28 times for the Latics last season - 25 in the league - in 38 starts and five sub appearances in all competitions as they won the League One title and he won the third tier’s Golden Boot. This season he has scored seven goals in 20 starts and five sub appearances.

Grigg, whose song at Wigan went viral towards the end of last season, was a member of the Northern Ireland squad at the European Championships last summer but without making it on to the field.

Manchester-born Logan, 28, is a graduate of the Manchester City academy and had spells on loan with Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Stockport and Tranmere while with his hometown club.

The 5ft 8in tall right-back joined Brentford on a permanent basis in the summer of 2011, then moved on to Aberdeen initially on loan in 2014. Logan, who was linked with a move to Bolton in the summer, is contracted to the Dons until the end of June 2018.

The SPL side would reportedly accept a fee of around £200,000 for Logan.

Its not strikers we need itts bloody players to supply the ones we have, as for logan seen him a few times yes does get up and down but that will soon stop if or when he comes here Mick will probably drop him for attacking to much.As for Chambers yes im the one thats been critical and sometimes forget he is a CB but the player has to voice his concerns to McCarthy even if it means been dropped as he is been ruined as a player at RB.Its alright telling McCarthy you will do your best and give it 100% but clearly it not for you I can see your effort no problem but you get roasted most weeks and thats understandable but your boss cant see this its just one of many issues whast wrong with our team and club..

Let's wait and see but to be honest can't see Grigg coming ,we won't offer enough. No nothing of right back but a player who's position is to play right back must be a positive thing

We certainly do not need a right back as Emmanuel will be good enough I am sure. Grigg is also not the answer not that it can possibly happen anyway. Just go and get Ward from Rotherham and stop dilly dallying around before it is too late. Sad times at Portman Road.

It's not the playing staff that needs changing (apart from the central midfield duo who are consistently useless)..it's the management.

McCarthy could sign Bale,Messi and Ronaldo but I still wouldn't trust him to get us playing attractive football.

We will continue to stagnate under the current set up.

Well most people have heard of will Grigg, and he has got a comedy chant..hmm I think we'll offer £15k and he'll £68 a week plus 0.01% of shirt sales.

The other one I've never heard of....so welcome to town son.
Ps here's your neck brace, and don't forget, aim for that corner flag and HOOF!

Chambers is gone family moving back up to Midlands , nothing to do with fans he has become deluded with the manager and clubs progress , get rid of MM tomorrow and get Chambo back into centre back what he was signed for . Time for Berra to go back to Scotland , two years past his best

Probably all paper Talk. There is one thing i have always liked about MM and thats the way signings get done. There is very little in the way of Rumours or talk, generally the first we hear of it is when its done and dusted, credit where its due.

It still is the end of MM's reign and he has to leave.

Bye Mick!

I agree with ArnieM on the Chambers issue, it's a disgrace that he's had to play at right-back and now he is on his way. Not his fault. Losing Chambers will be a massive blow for this club.

Logan is good bombing forwards but Aberdeen fans are in agreement that he's got really bad positional sense and often doesn't get back. Doesn't sound like Mick's style of player and we can't afford Grigg.

Erm Noel------it is quite clearly strikers we need, at least 2 new ones to start with.

Ward and Grigg would be good-----and see if anybody is daft/desperate enough to buy Didds and fund these purchases.

Didds is yesterdays man I am afraid.

Quite right Len. The personal attacks on Chambers and Douglas are outrageous.

Think everyone, including ours and other teams Managers know we want a striker;so Marcus must be prepared to splash out, even though it may involve a premium.

Not so sure about a right back though, bearing in mind Emmanuel;surely it is a midfielder that is required more, somebody like Conor Hourihane who was bought by RK and let go by PJ.Somebody who can boss the midfield and is not frightened to get forward, something that seems to affect most in that position here;unless its Micks shackels that are the problem?

Razor
I think we are ok playing 2 up top. Any 2 from Didds,Best,Sears, and Pitman as strikers who stay in or around the box they are not the best 4 but I do think any striker coming here will struggle because of the lack of creativity in other parts been really harsh we have about 6 or 8 players that shouldnt be at our once great club it rotting at an alarming rate and the powers to be are sitting back.

......... most players would be (and are) 'down' playing for McCarthy and his continuous "out of position' regime.

The only players who will be reasonably satisfied is the ones who are looking to put themselves in the shop window instead of bench warming i.e loan players OR looking to retrieve some fitness level after injury maybe.
Players that belong to other Clubs have the option of going back if what he does doesn't suit them - our players have no choice but to keep stum or be castigated for daring to go against, or say anything, against the messiah.

This man is evil - GET HIM OUT.

......... Chambers is far from being a happy man - and he's been treated abysmally all considered.

By some fans too. He is so genuine he openly admits he is, and will never be, a Right Full Back - it's torture for him to have to keep playing there - but with the Dinosaur, he has no option.
